Hopefully someone can answer a couple of questions regarding what is and isn't allowed on the PbP forums in regards to profanity and other adult language use:
- Are DMs and players prohibited from using swear words in their private game threads? Obviously some D&D games are aimed at adult players and contain more mature content than games aimed at younger players. I'm not talking about gratiuitous or mindless swearing, but rather purposeful adult language used intentionally to help create a tone within a game. - If profanity is banned on the forums, has this been changed recently? When I started using DDB a couple of years ago I'm fairly certain that profantiy wasn't censored on PbP threads.
Thanks in advance if anyone is able to help out with this enquiry, Vassa Sunstar

D&D is a game, but it's not just a game. It's the ultimate storyboard, a campfire to share with friends, an imaginary call to imaginary arms and a ship to sail to horizons yet undreamt of...
Thanks for the speedy answer and easy fix. Much appreciated. :)

Hi Vass, I wanted to add a quick experience I had last year. I was running a PbP that revolved around sex, drugs and rock and roll with the players being evil alignments. I knew there was going to be a lot of adult subject matter so asked the mods before I started the game. I was told to include a notice in the beginning of the thread that it was an Adult Only game and that there would be sensitive subject matter. That as long as their wasn't implicit descriptions of things that would violate the ToS that I was OK. Thought I'd mention that since you brought up "mature content"
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I always expressly state the adult content and tone of the games I run at the outset, since I agree with everything you wrote above. It's definitely a must to be proactive and transparent when running those sorts of games, no doubt. Cheers.

Hi there,
the profanity filter is now active for all users by default.
If you go to your account preferences, you should see an option there to disable the profanity filter.
