With the ongoing concerns with coronavirus my group and I are going to start running our sessions online. I'm just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations of running sessions online? E.g. best programs to use, resources, etc.
I absolutely refuse to use Roll 20 after there co=owner said they don't need older white males. The software is excellent but I refuse to cater toa company with that attitude. I also won't use it and direct my fellow players and DM's away from it.
Fantasy Grounds is another good interface and tool. I just dislike the interface personally.
I have been experimenting with MapTool for shared online gaming.

Watch your back, conserve your ammo, and NEVER cut a deal with a dragon!
Foundry VTT is in beta right now, but should have some bells-and-whistle beyond Roll20.
Otherwise, I just ran my first session on Roll20 last night (self-quarantining!) and it worked great. Tabletop and video through Roll20. Audio via discord. Character sheets on this site. :)
Thank you for all the recommendations, my players all decided on using discord.
Any one have any good discord bot recommendations?
For my Saturday night group my fiancee and I are in Georgia, one of our friends lives in Michigan and the other two are in Oregon, we've used RPBot for awhile and it works great for rolling. The newest video about Avrae seems interesting, but there seems to be a lot of codes to get used to, where RPBot is just a straight !roll 1d20+(modifier)
We use ZOOM for audio/video chat (as everyone already had it); all the players have their characters on DDB; some roll physical dice and report, others roll on the sheet. I'm the DM and use owlbear.rodeo. If you are just starting out with virtual games, owlbear is great: simple, low learning curve. One thing to know, though: owlbear doesn't have regular accounts, so you have the bookmark the url when you start setting up your vtt. Also, all the images, etc. you import in are stored locally, so you need to prep on the device you are going to use in game to run owlbear.
Hi Everyone,
With the ongoing concerns with coronavirus my group and I are going to start running our sessions online. I'm just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations of running sessions online? E.g. best programs to use, resources, etc.
I used to use Roll20, hangouts, and DDB to have online sessions.
If you're going for visual I would invest some time in Roll20 to see how you like it. I just learned about Beyond20 which is pretty snazzy too.
Otherwise just using any type of audio conferencing (skype, discord, etc.) would work.
