so i am a level 8 barb path of the beast. im the parties main tank. is multiclassing worth it at this point? i see a lot of ppl dip into druid but im not experienced enough yet to know good opportunities.
Please don't do the barbarian/druid thing. The reason you see people doing that is the dumb meme Bearbarian build, where the player wants to use Rage while Wild Shaped to turn into Pablo EskoBear. It's dumb, it doesn't work well, and when it works at all it only works if you're mostly druid with only a few levels of barbarian.
The only reason for you to multiclass druid is if you feel like your character would take up the druidic arts and learn their ways. if you have a compelling narrative reason for doing so, go for it. Otherwise the combination is nothing but a crappy fratbear meme.
Elsewise? Nothing wrong with continuing your barbarian progression, especially if you're enjoying the class. Path of the Beast doesn't mix especially well with other classes; there can be tricks, but if you're not feeling confident in exploiting them, then more barb levels are the way to go.
it does fit well with my backstory however i think i may stay barb. i feel like i wont enjoy playing as much with so much stuff to keep track of. thank you
I don't recommend multiclassing unless you're very familiar with the class you're playing and the class you want to add.
Plus Beast Barbs get a rather good 10th level ability so you should probably stick to that at least. The 14th level ability is also really good for tanking and better than a dip into druid.
The only dip I'd recommend for a beast druid would be a 2-level dip into fighter because a reckless attack with action surge and their 10th level ability for possible 2d12 damage extra per hit. That's a real beast mode right there. However, that would mean missing out on an ASI and the 20th level feature of getting 24 Strength. It's up to you to decide if that's worth it.
