I have a player who is playing a Druid, Circle of the Land Mountains to be exact, and I plan on giving them their evolving item in the form of a mask made of mystical wood to them for finishing a huge dungeon. The mask has huge lore connections to the the Druids Circle as well as Fey Lord that she is connected to. The "Ancient Spirit" in question is a sort of master of Life and Death, using both Nature based and Necromancy based magic. Think Nagash personality wise from Warhammer Fantasy/ Age of Sigmar, but leaning more druid than wizard.
So far I'm thinking an increase in AC, resistance to poison/diseases, and the ability to read, speak, and write Sylvan.

for starter abilities plus 1 ac and poison resistance while wearing it (plus slyvan) is a fairly good start
the next stage might be you can cast either mass healing word or animate dead once per day (the poison resistance would also be boosted too full immunity to poison and diesese and give them resistance to necrotic damage) and let the druid cast once circle spell an additional time.
the final stage would give immunity to necrotic damage boost the 2nd stage effects to twice a day.IT would also allow for a free once a day revivify or regeneration.
