I am trying to add a feature similar to superiority dice where I will have a range of abilities that I spend points to use these abilities. the player will start with 5 points and gain more as they level up.
so far I have done this by adding an action. i set the type to general, added a name, and set the reset type to short rest, added some filler text in the snippet and description boxes, and left everything else blank. then I added 2 limeted use datas. in the first one, I set the number of uses to 5 and the level to 1 and left everything else blank. for the second one, I set the number of uses to 10 and the level to 6 and left everything else blank.
I made a test character and the points are listed under Features & Traits, not actions. how do i move them to actions?
You have to designate an “activation type” like Action, Bonus Action, etc. If it’s supposed to be something they can activate whenever a certain condition is met (like “whenever you hit with a weapon attack” as an example), then set the activation type as “special.” If it’s supposed to not require any specific activation type, then select “no action.”
PS- for that first limited use (listed as 5 uses at 1st level) you can leave the level blank and the system will automatically register it as “base,” meaning at whatever level that feature is granted.
PPS- What you have created is technically more akin to Ki since there is no die associated with the feature. If you actually want something rollable (like Superiority Dice), you would need to add those as damage for the action.
