Made a homebrew item that gives a once per day first level spell, second level spell, and third level spell. (frost fingers, heat metal, pulse wave). How I have it setup works fine:
wonderous item, three charges, reset at dawn. Player keeps track of charges by clicking the little squares and just remembers what spell they cast. If they use all three, they all grey out, because all charges are spent.
What I would like to do if I can if have it so if on the player character sheet they cast, say, frost fingers, it will grey out and be unusable until they reset the charges, but can still use heat metal/pulse wave. Sorta like if you have a feat that gives you spell dndbeyond just makes it uncastable until you hit long rest.
It's totally just a house-keeping thing. Is that something I can make happen? Or does the player just have to track which spell they used?
Awesome, thank you for letting me know! That's kind of what I figured. one day, I'm sure.
I doubt it. Unless WotC publishes something that works that way, DDB would make that a possibility. And if WotC does, it could be half a decade or more before DDB gets it programmed properly.

Thanks so much for any insight.
You would have to make it as three distinct items. The way items, spells and charges are designed that just isn’t possible at the moment.
