Hello all, I've been working on creating a professional-looking, well-thought-out homebrew version of the Chain Veil from MtG, and have continuously run into issues with apparently using licensed or private homebrew content. I've reviewed everything I put on the homebrew item and haven't found any copyright issues--especially since there are already other homebrew Chain Veils out there. I'm only using published core content spells, and the effects (such as a boost to necrotic damage) are completely customized. I haven't copied anything from any existing items or homebrew, to the best of my knowledge.
I haven't seen anything existing that is too similar to what I'm building, hence why I'm building it. There must be something I'm missing, but I don't know how to get anyone else to help me review my homebrew so I can get it published.
Any advice from a mod or another veteran homebrewers?
You say "core content" but core content includes licensed stuff.
You may only use what is in the Basic Rules and Elemental Evil Player Companion. These are the free documents WotC released. For spells you can click here to see the free spells you can use. If it isn't in that list, it cannot be used, if you want to publish.
