The modifiers were identical, but I made yet another copy and inspected them side-by-side and it appears I checked the "requires attunement" box at some point, so that explains it.
D'oh, I feel silly. Thanks.
Edit: well I feel slightly less silly...apparently it auto-checked the box when I was attempting to figure out how to apply a -1 to damage. Even if I go back and uncheck the attunement box, it still shows as a +13 instead of +16 to hit, and 2d6+7 instead of 2d6+10. Still some work to do here. I'll probably end up just having to leave it as a +3 and just remembering to subtract 1.
Apparently adding a modifier of "slashing damage" with a fixed value of "-1" is not the way to do this...
Whenever you add anything to, change anything on, or remove anything from any homebrew, you MUST re-save the entire project using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information or the system will not pick up your changes. After that it can sometimes take up to 20 minutes for those changes to push through to the character builder/sheet.
Adding a negative damage modifier will put a note next to the weapon’s damage to remind you to subtract 1. You can also customize the item directly on your character sheet to reduce the damage by 1 and it will then include that automatically moving forward.
Homebrew newb here, trying to create a custom greatsword. It is based off a +3 Greatsword, so I started with that of course.
It's got a -1 to damage due to some damage to the blade, but even before trying to implement that, I saved it to try it out.
I added it and a normal +3 greatsword to the Barbarian who wields it, who has a +7 STR and +6 proficiency.
Any idea what would cause this?
Did you alter or delete the original modifier?
