I made an Investigator/Detective class for a friend's campaign about a year ago and have been trying in little ways to balance and improve it. If I wanted to post it on a forum here in the least annoying fashion possible, what steps should I take (so I am not just copy and pasting pages of text)

That's actually one of the easiest ways. There is also a site called Homebrewery which makes pages that look straight out of the Player's Handbook.
