Hi, I'm making a world where technology is slightly more advanced than typical D&D flare. I want to make some firearms for my players, but I want them to feel like an alternative to existing weapons rather than a necessity. So what I did was reskin and slightly up the damage of crossbows by increasing the die size:
A light two-handed firearm does 1d10 rather than a light crossbow's 1d8.
A heavy pistol does 1d8 rather than a hand crossbow's 1d6.
A heavy two-handed firearm does 1d12 rather than a heavy crossbow's 1d10.
I also added a light pistol that does 1d6.
The problem is, I don't know how to add these to DND Beyond. I can't add regular equipment at all, and homebrewing magic items or letting my players add custom items just lets me use an existing weapon as a template, which won't let me change the die type. Is there any way to implement these weapons the way I want?
- Or your players can add them to their character sheets directly as custom attacks and custom items.
Homebrew equipment is not yet supported, its been a highly requested feature but it hasn't been implemented, probably due to the revamping of the homebrew system.

As magic items? you can't, you would need to pick a weapon with the same damage dice, the add the extra information under Additional Information > Notes
Adding a custom attack to your character sheet is neater, you can tweak the dice and mechanics from that to suit your homebrew Actions > Attacks > Manage Custom. but that's just an extra option added to the character sheet. its not a magic item that you can add to your characters can add, or other players you are sharing your content with.
I created a magic item based on each of the different damage dice possible on dndbeyond. Look through these and pay attention to the notes at the bottom to see all the different changes that had to be made to get these work. Each one is based on a different martial or firearms weapon.
You won't be able to turn a melee weapon into a ranged weapon and vice versa, but if you have notes in the text to explain what to keep in mind and what to ignore, that's the best you can do.

Two ways:
- You can make them as magic items
- Or your players can add them to their character sheets directly as custom attacks and custom items.

How can I change the die used, though?
