Ive been experimenting with reworking most of the combat cantrips, ill post more on those things in a later post. But I've keep coming back to the idea of magic missile being the quintessential wizard and to an extent sorcerer, basic damage spell. So what im thinking for said magic missile cantrip would be reduced range to 30 or 60 feet, and would have one of the following effects:
1: 1d4+1 damage and automatically hits but does not force a concentration check
2: 1d4+1 damage and you have advantage on the spell attack roll
3: damage = to spell casting mod and automatically hits.
Do any of those options make sense to not be OP or is this is beating a dead horse?
I will chime in and say that even advantage and a +1 is a bit much for a cantrip. Just a single shot, 1d4., regular roll.

Anything that automatically hits is automatically too powerful for a cantrip.

so what about the 1d4+1 with advantage on the attack roll?

A single shot, 1d4 force damage, 30ft range, automatically hits.
Thats how I would do it.
do you have it scale or increase range as the character levels like other cantrips?
I would say scaling is fine, myself.
