My buddy is starting a campaign where the characters are hit with cosmic radiation or something, and start to develop powers. Mutations, phychic or otherwise. Anyway, we were trying to figure a way to homebrew it so it could work with dnd beyond. Something like a healing factor that every round would heal x hp, based on how many "hero points" were put into that ability. I thought a feat, but couldn't figure a way to make it auto revolve, you know? Thought maybe I would ask the community, but if it has to end up being a pen and paper thing, so be it.
Sposta, could you do it as a specialized home brew spell - regenerate that was an at will reaction for X HP ?
Sorry for the delay, I just saw this.
It still wouldn’t automatically add the HP to the character though. One might as well simply create it as an Action with a preconfigured die roll attached to make rolling easy if it’s a random number of HP, or a snippet if it’ll be a calculated number of HP, and then all one has to do is adjust the HP manually every turn.
Odd suggestion but you may want to consider Mutants & Masterminds or the Cypher System. They are better suited for comic-book style Superhero games which you seem to want, with the former having a d20 system like D&D, although personally I think Cypher System does a better job at it (there's a webshow, Callisto 6, showing Cypher System as a Superhero game).
Just in case you don't mind spending a little money to save yourself a lot of work trying to make a superhero D&D game, since it's already done for you and already playtested for balance.

There is no way for the system to automatically heal you every turn since the system has no idea when it’s your turn.

Of course, that makes sense. I guess I'm trying to over think the whole thing.
No worries, that question comes up more often than one might expect.
