I feel like I'm missing something obvious here. I'm trying to create a subclass. The level 3 feature give you a bonus action that forces an unwilling creature within 30 feet to make a saving throw against your DC (In this case 8 + STR + Proficiency). I was able to get the saving throw to display properly on a character sheet, but I'm only able to get the range to display if I mark the action as an attack, which results in it displaying a "To Hit" on the character sheet. Is there a way to have the range display without having the to hit display, and also without having it be a spell?
I should mention, the range also increases 5 feet each level through level overrides. I don't think that information is relevant to the issue, but I'm giving it in case it is.
Having just found path of the storm herald's Storm Auras and seeing that their 10 foot area apparently doesn't actually display within the "Range/Area" part of that action, I'm guessing this isn't possible? But if someone knows better than me, please let me know.
There are three different types of Actions you can select:
General Action (stuff that doesn’t do any damage or otherwise directly target other creatures for the most part).
Weapon Actions (physical attacks against creatures or other targets).
Spell Actions (anything that does affect other creatures that isn’t a physical attack).
General Actions are used to track stuff like Rage, Superiority Dice, and other things that are primarily self directed, or don’t really specifically target other creatures at all. Weapon Actions are used for things like natural weapons (like claws and such), things that directly deal physical damage to others. Spell Actions is kind of a catch all for anything else that targets another creature, especially things that force saving throws. It doesn’t have to actually be a “spell” to be a spell Action. Read “spell Action” more as “magicalish type effects Action” if that helps.
So, even though your Action isn’t technically a “spell,” it’s most likely gonna fall under the spell Action category.

Yoh have to designate the “spell range type” to ranged.
