I'm new to the site and trying to create a character. The race I want (Elf-Orc) has already been added to the list of Homebrew races, but I can't seem to add it as the race of my character. Do I need to purchase a subscription to be able to add Homebrew races?

Yes, a Hero subscription will allow you to add public homebrew, but you can make your own, privately, for free.
