I’m dming a homebrew adventure for my players in an ancient abandoned library that was buried underground in a magical diasaster. The diasaster is supposed to be a magical machine that magnifies a spell cast by someone using it on a huge scale (mold earth buried the entire building) but when the machine was destroyed it warped the survivors and dead into magically warped monsters, but I need some help writing up the monsters. What do you think?
Give them 12 to each ability score, plus the racial bonus for the respective race. Then, give them any (Not all) of the abilities as follows:
Warped by Chaos: At the beginning of the _____(Whatever you want to call them)'s turn, a random ability score decreases by one, and a different ability score increases by two. (Maybe a little OP)
Wild Power: Whenever ______ casts a spell, all hostile creatures within 5 feet make a DC10 (Scale as necessary) wisdom save or take 1d8 psychic damage.
Scarred Horror: Whenever this creature takes OR deals a critical hit, the creature that dealt or received the critical hit must succeed on a DC10 (Again, scale as necessary) wisdom save or be fightened.
If none of these work, or you need more, just post on this tread and I'll try to help (Sry if these options aren't great).
I feel like maybe there should be something about movement speed in here...?
Like, maybe:
If _____ hits a creature with an unarmed strike, the target of said unarmed strike must succeed on a DC__ constitution save, or have its movement speed decreased by 10 to a minimum of 5. The target's movement speed returns to normal after a short rest.

Humanoids that temblor their respective races, but are still twisted and warped over centuries.
So you want to make a “post-apocalyptic variant” for each of the PC races? All of them?!?

Homebrew is fun.
