I am wanting to create a useful and maybe slightly funny magic item that can be given to tier one characters. However I am unsure of balance and chrome issues. I am hoping more experienced GMs will have better perspectives and can give me some feedback. Here goes:
Easy Sleep Chain. Mechanically identical to Mithral chainmail (AC16), this has been specially constructed and enchanted to be extremely comfortable to sleep in, this armor can be worn while taking a long rest without any penalty. It can take the place of a sleeping roll, which although made of Mithral for lightness, is still quite a bit heavier than a regular sleeping roll. It is loose fitting and can be donned and doffed like a one piece hooded pajama. While not so loose fitting that it would pose a problem fighting in, it's bagginess makes it look rather silly, sufficient to provoke snickers and jokes were it to be worn as normal garb. (Imagine going to work in your pajamas.) It's looseness is also a handicap when attempting to move stealthily, so unlike normal Mithral Chainmail, this still confers a penalty to stealth. Part of it's enchantment also keeps the wearer cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather. It has a zipper along the front of the torso from the neck right to the crotch, and can be put on and taken off with one action.
Bookworm, martial artist, repentant psychic, dried out drug addict, paramedic, pseudo-apostate libertarian, debater, knife maker, SCA basher, professional gamer, speculator, pornographer, and nascent social commentator. ...and I want an uncomplicated life.

It looks fine. There's ways I would edit it if you were planning on publishing it, but for a home game, you've got an uncommon magical item.
