My brother and I have been looking at the laser pistol to add and modify if needed. We looked and wanted to change the range on it. We even made a homebrew of a laser pistol with the properties and everything, we can literally change everything but the range. It's been very frustrating how you can change even the damage type and so many other properties..... BUT THE RANGE! If anybody or even the admins of dnd beyond look at this please let me know how to change it or just make it an option. Thanks.
Magical Item homebrew isn't designed to allow the homebrew of mundane items (weapons) - the design scope was to allow magical versions of existing weapons.
You could equip a laser pistol on your character and then, on the character sheet, customize the attack, or add a custom attack, to give it the range you want for your campaign.
