I had a thought for creating a unique NPC in my world, who uses Psionics, rather than traditional magic.
I really can't get her character right though. Primarily because her use of Psionics, as envisioned in AD&D 1st Edition, clashes terribly with my worlds high magic setting.
I really want her to use psionics rather than traditional magic though because psionics fits really well thematically, with this characters high intelligence and her extreemly ordered and disciplined mind.
She is like a powerhouse of mental order and clarity and uses her extreemly keen and uniquely powerful mind to bring order and dicipline to the lives of her followers - who worship her as a reincarnation of their Godess.
Do you have any tips for adapting AD&D 1 ed psionics to a 5e honebrew?

You could perhaps mix the sorcerer and wizard. Using intelligence for spellcasting ability, and allowing her to memorize spells instead of using a book. Or keeping the intelligence part and allowing her to take spells from any arcane spellcaster class. As in bard, wizard, sorcerer and warlock. I don't really know how pshonics or whatever it's called is like as I haven't really delved into it so if it's a weird suggestion then I'm sorry. ^^

Look at how official mechanics work for the gith and the duergar. If you're using a character sheet for the NPC, look at what Mike Mearls has been designing on Mike Mearl's Happy Fun Hour.
