Hello all. I've recently created a new monk subclass on Beyond that one of my players has been using in my home campaign. We're low level yet, so much of it hasn't come up, and I am looking for some critiques on the class! You can find the link below:
That would be unnecessary though seeing it as you can move and attack in the same general action with the way movement and attacks work in 5e.
it's really more about that hyper-extended kick or punch that looks like it's going to completely up and the martial artist but then they make contact and rein it in and get back in their stance.
After speaking with the player, and a couple of other discussions, there's going to be some changes made to the class. Specifically around the counter ability. I'll updated once I'm actually back to my PC.
Ok. There have been many updates to this subclass. Counter was changed quite a bit to bring it more in line with other defensive reactions. The hidden techniques have been updated (wording cleared up, new techniques, etc.). Spell Deflection has been changed and moved into 'Secret Techniques'. This new feature has some pretty high interesting options for spending your ki.
I like it, it reminds me of the old 70's era kung fu movies.
That was the goal. That and old school anime like Ranma 1/2 and OG Dragonball (not DBZ). It's been playtested for about 6 months real time (twice monthly), and the change to Counter was relatively recent. The previous version was good, but it really bogged down combat. The new counter speeds it up.
But yeah, the goal was a 'pure' martial artist in the style from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Once Upon a Time in China, and Forbidden Kingdom.

Should I repost the content here, or just use the link? It has been a very long time since I have been on a D&D related forum.
Leapords kick. Its just mechanical. You can make it more thematic if you rewrote it as...
Spend chi... player can move up to 5 feet then attack with a kick as a bonus action.
Read the first chapters. Feel free to critique. Will link the next chapters at the end of the first. Two stories running so far.
