Looking at the Ghosts of Saltmarsh ship templates, they give examples of how much cargo a ship can move in pounds/tons but I find myself struggling to put a value to this.
If a sailing ship can hold 100 tons of cargo, what would the value (in gold) be for such a shipment?
This is a fine question and the answer is it depends. The value depends on the contents of the cargo. If the cargo is wheat, then the value will be about 2000 gp. But if the ship is carrying exclusively platinum, then the value is 100,000,000 gp.
