Hello everyone, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by here and try to help me get this magic item finished!
So, to make long story short, I cut off a players arm. A year and a half ago. He and the rest of the party, along with the help of some magical practitioners have finally managed to create a magically imbued arm to replace his missing appendage.
Here is the rough outline for the item:
The arm increases your Armor Class, Dexterity, and Strength scores by 1. In addition to this, the arm is magically imbued with the following properties:
Your unarmed strikes with the prosthetic get a +1 to attack and damage rolls.
Unarmed strikes deal 1d6 bludgeoning damage.
Has 4 charges, charges recover 1d4 each dawn.
Spell: Cantrip (0 charges)
Spell: Level 1 (1 charge)
Spell: Level 3 (2 charges)
Most of the homebrew creation mechanics are easy enough to generate in the homebrew creator for me. I've completed the +1 to attack and damage and added all charges and the spells. The problem that I'm having are related to the unarmed strikes.
I can't seem to get the modifier to work on their character sheet. I don't want to give them proficiency with unarmed strikes, but I DO want there to be a +1 to these attack and damage rolls and I DO want there to be a d6 damage for successful strikes with the arm.
Additional Information:
Homebrew item settings currently are a Very Rare Wonderous Item requiring attunement. Should I change this to maybe an armor? I'm concerned less about what its categorized as (because the party and I will obviously know what it is) and more concerned with the mechanics all showing up on the player's character sheet.

Wondrous Item. As soon as you go with armour you need to specify a type, etc which could do funny things to AC, etc. Plus there's weight which you'd need to change and possibly other interactions you don't need.
There's also the option for "Unarmed Strikes" under both Bonus and Damage fields. I was giving the example of the existing item as the starting point for how that does it.

Natural attacks and unarmed strikes are not technically the same thing. There head a whole debate about it when the new UA Barbarian came out.

Agreed, but that's how the item which enhances unarmed strikes does it.
