So to make this homebrew item I used Wand of Enemy detection as my base. Changed Wand to hairpin and changed the amount of charges it has and the die for regained charges at dawn. Seemed easy enough to do.
I decided to check the item on a dummy character. Upon looking it shows 7 charges and well I told myself I'll just search for the field that dictates the amount of charges it has. Changed it to 3 . I save and check and still has 7 boxes for 7 charges. Where is the field thats on the Edit Item page that dictates that? I really wish Beyond refined and simplified their ui as this stuff gets pretty complicated.
Nah, it makes sense to wonder if something saved correctly when you don't see the result. It's just that DDB put the homebrewer on a different server from the character sheets to reduce issues.

Actually, if I understand things correctly, the homebrewer is on one server, the the homebrewed content is on another server, and the character sheets are on yet another server.
In addition, a while back when they rolled out the redesigned character sheet framework they also implemented a feature that has significantly reduced incidences of incorrectly configured Homebrews fatally interacting and crashing character sheets left, right, and center. Threads reporting such issues used to be a daily occurrence in the Bugs & Support forum, and doubly so on weekends when the Staff was off and the Mods were scarce. Since then, I think I’ve noticed fewer than half a dozen threads reporting that issue in total.
So, between the system diagnostic and the correction algorithms and then having to clear multiple server caches… it takes a bit.
Also another thing I noticed that was strange. A friend of mine has a Circle of Stars Druid. So long as she has her star map she gets free uses of casting Guiding bolt equal to her proficiency bonus. She's currently level 9 and her sheet has 2 squares instead of the four for Guiding Bolts . I was wondering if that was some kind of oversight?
By the way is there a way I can share a homebrew item to get looked at ? I'm looking to get some input on improving the items I craft through some critique.
You can follow the link to your homebrew item's page, copy the text there describing it and its features, and then create a thread in this forum with the description text in your starting post. As an example, well, here's a thread of mine.
The main thing is to avoid publishing a homebrew until you're realllly sure it works, reads the way you want, has been playtested a little by your group in a campaign, etc. You can still give the link to the unpublished homebrew if you're having trouble with some of the setup; a staff member would be able to examine it if need be.

Ah ok I wanted to make sure I didn't violate any rules if I were to create such a thread in this part of the forum. I understand the publishing atleast. I did publish a Half-Dryad race and I thought everything was fine but certain things weren't exactly translating well and I missed a few errors but because it was published I wasn't allowed to edit it. Which was disappointing. Kinda hope Beyond lets us edit our own published content doesn't seem right to lock you out of improving something or updating something . I mean what is the point of a comments section on the published work if you can't take input. Oh well, thanks again.
Yeah, you can't edit or delete published material, except by creating a new version. Basically since it'd be changing things on people who have added the homebrew to their collections.
I wish there was an intermediate publication step too, where people could at least try it out before it gets "locked in." One possibility is by creating a campaign and inviting interested forum members to the campaign, where they'd make a test character, and then they'd be able to add your homebrews to their character and see how it works.

When WotC publishes something they can’t just go edit all of the print copies later. The must “create a new version” to send to the printer. The PHB was initially published in 2014, had two separate errata in 2015, another in 2017, again in 2018, and most recently in 2020. They have had to “create a new version” five times. That’s why DDB calls it “publishing,” because it follows all the same rules as print publications.
Double check your user agreement terms of service. When you publish something on DDB, you still get credited as the Author, but it is no longer “yours,” it belongs to DDB. That’s why they are allowed to only let paid subscribers add them to their collections. They aren’t locking you out from improving or updating your content, they are making sure that whenever you change their content it leaves a recorded work history that can be tracked.

It can sometimes take 20 minutes or so for homebrew changes to percolate to the character sheet. See whether it looks okay now.

I checked again after I had some dinner. It seems to have changed this time around. Now I feel like a dunce for making this post :(

I understand, just a matter of patience I guess.

They can't account for Proficiency Bonus yet in some of the new features added by Tasha's, which you can see more about in the Tasha's Support Thread.

Thanks for letting me know. I can't really navigate beyond too well.
