Hi, in my homebrew campaign I rewarded a pair of gauntlets years ago before we started using dndbeyond, they give a +1 to attack and damage rolls to longswords and shortswords only. I have tried since homebrew became available on dndbeyond to recreate these gauntlets but I am completely lost on how. Any help or tips is very welcome!
As I am sure you'll appreciate, the only limit to the game of D&D is our imagination - unfortunately with the D&D Beyond tools, the dev teams have to create functionality to allow all of these things that are created. The focus has to be on supporting mechanics that are present on officially published content and there isn't (yet) an official magic item that adds damage to only specific weapon types.
My suggestion is to create the magic item, with the descriptive text stating what it does.
When the player adds the magic item to their character, they can customize any longswords or shortswords on their character sheet to add the bonus.

Hi there,
we don't have a modifier that covers this.
