So when making a homebrew subclass and you are adding an "action" to one of the features, is there a way to make it so when it is "displayed as an attack" it doesn't add the ability modifier to the damage? Basically like the Fire Bolt cantrip where you have to roll to hit but the damage doesn't add your ability modifier to damage.
For example, lets say the class feature gives you an attack that on a melee spell attack it deals 1d8 fire damage. Just 1d8, no modifier. I tried many of the different options from making the "action type" to general to attack to spell, playing around with the "attack range" from melee to having it off. Trying all the combos with those two dropdown fields. Nothing seems to work.
It either adds the ability modifier to both the displayed attack and damage so looks something like this:
Hit/DC Damage +7 1d8+5
Or it won't display the to hit number but display the correct damage number like this:
Hit/DC Damage __ 1d8
Or it won't display the to hit number but display the wrong damage number like this:
Hit/DC Damage __ 1d8+5
Anyone never run into that? Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time for any input.
That is not possible currently. The best thing to do is get it as close as you can and the player will have to adjust it manually on their character sheets.

Ohh okay. Thanks for the info.
