Apologies in advance if this is redundant, but I'm trying to homebrew different arrow types and I cannot figure out a way to do it.
Challenge: create custom arrow types which support different damage types and amounts. Specifically, I want to create limb-cutter arrows which do slashing damage instead of piercing damage. I also want them to do 1d10 as a die instead of 1d8 (for longbows).
The problem is that there isn't a way (which I'm aware of) to create equipment. Therefore, I am forced to create a magic item for this which isn't a problem so long as I can actually get accomplished what I'm trying to do.
Has anyone else been able to create custom arrows as a general class of items? How do I go about creating custom ammunition?
Homebrew Ammunition is not supported at the present time. The available workarounds are to use either scrolls or potions and use them to at least represent them, if not actually be ammunition. Another alternative is as Wondrous Items. When DDB had to fake it, they used weapons, like bows etc, I do not recommend that method personally. Honestly, the most accurate representation I achieved is as custom item’s created directly on the character sheet, but then every sheet needs to be updated manually and individually.
