*Not exactly... The rule most of us use on the tavern is that its a DC 25 or 30 check. The teacher rolls performance, and the student int or wis. If you add it and they beat the DC, then they gain 1/2 proficiency. If they dont,.they gotta keep training. If they have half proficiency, and they do the training and succeed again, it becomes full proficiency*
