The six watched the minotaurs turn from the great rock spire over the ridge wall. They couldn't charge in the deep mud, and the smaller human army had routed them easily. None of the soldiers on the ridge had seen battle yet, and the six's impatience was clear. Now, the minotaurs fled into the great hole between the mountains. The half-orc sighs and steps down from the creaking wooden battlements. Three more of the six follow, until only the half-elf and one of the humans remain. They stand quietly for a minute longer before the humans speaks, her brows furrowing as slight nervousness dulls her confidence.
"It's going to be hard down there," she says, and the half-elf stills.
"Not more than we can handle." His eyes are cold, and he seems unafraid of the battle ahead.
The storm continues.
