In Greek mythology there were these three nymphs called the Thriae, also called the Bee Maidens. They had the head and torsos of women but the rest was all bee. They had special divination abilities and were thought to have helped Apollo gain his powers.
Also, honey was discovered by a Greek nymph named Melissa which means honeybee.

I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.
Would y'all be interested in playing in a short PbP that would have a lot to do with bees? It would probably only go three or four levels. I just wanted to gauge interest before writing it up.
Here be some random bee facts I have found while researching folklore:
Socrates suggested that good people were reincarnated as bees.
The word bumblebee is relatively new. Charles Darwin and other people referred to them as humblebees.
Bees were thought to be the tears of Ra in Egypt.
Bees were thought to be able to predict the weather.
It is thought that one must tell the bees when ever something good or bad happens in a family or they will be angered and bring misfortune on the family.
There is a legend that when God created bees, the devil created wasps in a failed attempt at imitation.
In the Middle Ages, a witch’s soul flew about at night in the form of a wasp.
They only thing the rivals honeybees for me is the humblebee, now that I know its true name
The scientific names are even better, while the bumblebee, is a humble-bee, or perhaps a bumble bee. There are over 250 subspecies of humblebee of the genus Bombus, which is cute in-of-itself. Which is taken further by 3 species of Bombus bombias, or the 5 sub-subspecies of Bombus bombus, which is incredibly beautiful naming by our bee people (Mellitologists) With all the rest having bombus as a suffix.
Honorable mention to the biggest humblebee, from Chile - Bombus dahibombii which has been described as "a monstrous fluffy ginger beast". (The largest bumblebee in the world).

Wasps are cool, but I prefer honeybees. (Actually, I’m scared of both because I’m allergic to bee stings, but I still like honeybees better.)
