Felix shrugs. "It's hard to feel sympathy for every tragedy in the world. Maybe it's better that way. But I'm glad you try to understand to the best of your ability. That's the best I can ask for."
He puts a hand on Luciano's shoulder. "But if they heard you... would they listen?" He's suddenly extremely gentle. "The chosen of Morgana... please, tell me they'd listen... I can't bear the pain any longer..."
"People end up so.. desensitized to lost things. A murder, a car crash, a shooting, it all gets seen in the papers and then people go on their way because it's not them or it happens so often that no one cares." He sighs "Nevermind, I'm going off on a tangent."
He sighs and summons what appears to be a talisman into his hand. He helps Cathan over to a bench and sits him down "You say these things, thinking they cannot hear you, and in some cases you are correct. They rather turn a blind eye on your pain. I am sorry so many have failed you my child." He bows his head and presses the talisman shaped like a dove into his hand "I want to help you but you say these things and it hurts others. Hurt people hurt others because it is all they know. Let me help you, keep your biting tongue at bay, and I shall make sure you are never hurt again."
"No, no, you're sharing your feelings. I can listen." Felix sits down in a chair with his coffee and kicks his feet like a child. "I understand what you're saying, and I wish I could help, but that would take a skill level a bit beyond mine."
Cathan looks at the dove and begins to cry. He puts a damaged hand against his covered mouth to stifle the sobs. "Why? Why now? All this pain, and the gods choose to intervene now?"
"Heh. A stronger man than me. Just take care of yourself, alright buddy?"
Cathan grabs the shortsword by the blade and squeezes until his dark, thick, discolored blood oozes out over it. "Where were you when we needed you? When they, they needed you?! WHEN I NEEDED YOU?!" He falls to his knees and coughs out spices through his bandages. "You think you're so great, when I'm the only one who even cares to help these poor children. You, and all your hoity-toity, holier-than-thou kind will be left in the ashes. Heaven may not accept me, but only Hell awaits you."
“I will.” Mauric smiles sincerely.
“Kind? You are deluded by hate. I am not an institution. I am a lone prophet. I am lower than you are. I was once so prideful that I cast aside my humanity. Now I am forever damaged, never fulfilled. Before today, I never knew you, I never heard you, I never saw you, and I never considered you. But that is because I am not anything too much greater than you are. It is a surprise that even with my physical form so different from those around me, you could not discern a fundamental difference. When God chooses to don eyes, those eyes see only what is. Not what could have been. The past is separated from you by a sea wider than the skies, and you still try to fight the enemies that dwell there?”
Felix leans against him. "So, how have you been?"
"Gods, you are pathetic." He tries to stand but fails. One of his bodyguards lifts him to his feet, clearly afraid of both Eito and Cathan. "My goal isn't to fix the past, but the future. To remove the institutions that created any horror as vile as I. No world that can create this kind of hatred, this level of agony, deserves to stand. I will be a hero. I'll finally be pure. I'll be able to drink milk again."

*why milk?????*
“I’ve been fine. I feel like the fur on my ears has been looking kind of grey lately though.”
“No you won’t.” Eito’s voice is still as hushed, ethereal, and paradoxically sonorous as ever, but their words are biting and angry. “You will spill onto the lands with your masses in blood and thunder, and you shall slay the oppressors. And yes, for a while, others who were put down shall rejoice. But what of the families and lovers of your casualties? Slay them. They loved the oppressors, they must be oppressors too. But what of those who loved them? You can’t slay everyone who hates you, but you’re afraid that they’ll make things as they were. So you impose yourself as the leader, for that’s what you already were, the people just don’t know it. They need to know how much you’ve helped them. But eventually, you’ll hate everyone just as before, because you can’t make them love you. All you can do is make them afraid. So that’s what you’ll do. And someday, they will do the exact same thing to you through a new channel. Your spice is just the new church, a medium for power. And in the end, you are alone with your hate and anger for everything. And you have a choice. You will succumb. Or. You will understand. And if you choose the latter…” They inhale slowly. “…you will know exactly what I am and why.”

Hämärä häkellyttävä, menneisyyden menettävä
Tulevaisuus tuntematta, korkealle kurkottava
Kahleet kultaiset kukistin, raudat ruostuneet ripustin
Yksinäisen yön ylitin, sieltä itsenikin löysin
"Maybe that's it. I dunno. I used to be super jealous of him, but I've mellowed out since then."
"I... thank you. I've been in so much pain for so long. I wasn't sure if I could feel anymore."
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
Awake, impure, divine
Breathgiver of the Strugels
