"You never had a mother. And as for his care?" It yawns. "One must maintain their tools to keep them functional. Has he ever asked you to do something strange, Tim?"
“S-sometimes… but he always said it was for a good reason… why else would he make us do anything like that?” He begins tearing up, all of this so overwhelming for him, causing him to shiver.
"I've never met the man." It chuckles. "Do not cry. Do not cower. Now, you have work to do, don't you?" It stands up, shaking off its mane. "I won't hold you back."
He stands up once he’s done all he can for them, cracking his neck, his arms now almost entirely stone up to the bicep.
Tim smiles back at them politely “Hello. Why do you look all tingly? If I can ask.” He asks meekly, referring to the massive amount of wild magic.
Mother misery looks to him, probably worried underneath her mask. She turns back, continuing to transfer the wounds of the sick to her.
”…tingly? Uh-…. Oh-, I’m just- a-… do you want a candy cane?”
He shakes his head at their concern, and begins walking to the sick he can’t help, using his infectious charisma to support them, trying to help them through this time through words where he cannot act.
He nods enthusiastically “I would like a candy cane, if you don’t mind.”
Mother Misery walks over to Darius, whispering in his ear, just quiet enough so nobody else in the church hospital can hear them. “I believe this might be the start of a… weeping pox outbreak.”
he proudly produces a candy cane from thin air, handing it to Tim. He snaps, and it starts snowing outside. The fire suddenly has more wood to burn, and the tavern just seems twice as cozy.
He nods slowly along with them, whispering back “All signs lead towards that conclusion. I can prevent it from spreading as much as I can, but I won’t be able to reach everyone.” He sighs, disappointed in himself.
They happily take the candy cane, in awe of what they care capable of as they begin to consume it, smiling happily at them, their eyes changing colors as their power seems to fluctuate.
”don’t worry… we’ll be able to handle it, hopefully… I might need to contact the rest of my acolytes, however…”

He slowly wipes away the tears, but holds onto them tightly with strength no one would expect them to have “P-please stay, just… please stay for now… please…” They put his head into their mane.
"'Course. It's an upgraded version of Detect Poison and Disease, but put into a seeing stone. The Magus made it at my request, and I can lend it to you for as long as you need it. It identifies infections before the symptoms even show up."
It chuckles, standing up and trotting over to her while avoiding the broken glass, its nose now inches away from the tip of her weapon. "The Beast. You can call me whatever you like. 'Mothman' and 'Grimm' are quite popular. I was just thinking that you need to put more focus on this investigation. Something terrible could happen if you remain this casual about it."
"Perhaps I could make the atmosphere a bit cozier. Fairy lights, animated instruments..." It moves a bit closer, as much dragging itself with its arms as walking.
“The Magus?… would that mean you’re… the other one?” she says, taking a few steps closer.
”I-I was just- it’s only- the party isn’t even over…” she falters. “What… do you want to do with the investigation?..”
Vanilla nods along, putting their hot cocoa on a table next to them. “That’d be perfect… how’d you’d know?”
It nods, smiling. "Someone's been reading well. Don't worry, I'm not here to bring bad luck or anything. I just want to help. We've borne witness to many plagues, and we know how they spread."
"Oh, I'm not going to do anything. But once the guests go home, the game is over. Odds are, no matter who they are, they'll skip town the instant it won't look suspicious for them to do so. You need to increase the... pressure. How you do that is completely up to you, though. I'm just the messenger." It laughs and walks back to the couch, tail thumping against it every few seconds.
"I just know these things. I'm a magician, so I have to be well-versed in what I can and should do with my power."

“Nice to meet you Vanilla.” He holds out his hands to shake “I’m Tim.”
"I've never met the man." It chuckles. "Do not cry. Do not cower. Now, you have work to do, don't you?" It stands up, shaking off its mane. "I won't hold you back."

“And there’s no catch?”
she sighs, the sword turning into water vapor. “So… what you’re saying is either I-... I catch them by the time the ball ends, or I close the borders to and from the court?” She says, her voice a bit shakey.
“Mm… but yeah, all of that would be nice… and a blanket, too…”
"I've never met the man." It chuckles. "Do not cry. Do not cower. Now, you have work to do, don't you?" It stands up, shaking off its mane. "I won't hold you back."

“Mm… but yeah, all of that would be nice… and a blanket, too…”
"Why would there be?" It pulls out a small, triangular stone with a hole in the middle. "You know who I am. All I ask is that you give it back once you're done. I know it might take a bit, but I just want to know that some time in the future when someone else needs it I can give it to them."
"An interesting conclusion." It yawns. "You've got clever, powerful people trying to hurt others, and you plan on trapping them here with yourself and hundreds if not thousands of other innocent people? Interesting. Interesting. You realize that this whole debacle will damage your standing with the court if you don't handle it perfectly?"
"I've got something for that." It reaches under its robes and removes a soft, clean, lavender blanket. "This was made using the same enchantment as a 'cloak of the happy cat.' It's warm, dry, and clean, and it always will be so long as you don't throw it into a volcano. That's about the most it can handle before being unable to mend itself. I make them for my students when they stay overnight."
It chuckles. "What are you so afraid of, little one?" It sits back down. "But if you insist on keeping me, I cannot complain."
He continues to hold onto them, but doesn’t cry “I… I… I’m something… I don’t know… it scares me… dad was… lying to me this whole time?”
"Parents aren't perfect. No one is. Besides that, this world is always awful. You need to fight tooth and nail to live in it. I learned that the hard way."

*Oh you’re asking me specifically? Sure thing dude. Who you want?*
*uh Merabelle, Paracelsus, and anyone else you want for a third person*
*Of course, how about John as the third?*
Merabelle is serving up food for the homeless before she has to go to work, comforting all the people around in this time before Christmas, she is in her black overalls, a huge smile on her face.
Paracelsus is experimenting on a dead cat in her lab, trying to replicate Thirteen’s, and getting results ever closer to what she wants every single time, wearing her mask, her hands covered in blood as she works.
John is having a drink at the bar, trying to forget the fact he abandoned his family. A man nearly double his size, and far bulkier sits next to him in crimson colored armor, they talk as if they are old friends.
