The Neighbor grabs a little box of Christmas cookies and brings it over, since it hasn't collected enough snow. "Hey there! Just moved into town a bit ago, and I wanted to greet the new neighbors with something nice." It offers the box.
The Magus tilts its masked and hooded head. "What's a spell that interests you? And please, do not say Fireball."
He looks down to the box, smiling as he takes it, rubbing the back of his neck as he takes them “I’ll hand these around, sure thing.” He says, not understanding he’s giving it to him “I’m Antonio, nice to meet you.” He meekly says, holding out his hand.
He walks over to stand next to them “I’m not my idiotic brother, there are better spells than fireball. It is best to have a diverse understanding of magic than one spell.”
The uncanny humanoid shakes it firmly, a bit too friendly. "Nice to meet you too, Antonio. Feel free to keep those cookies, I have a ton more of them that I want to hand out personally. I know the whole thing about good deeds not announcing themselves, but I like to stay in the moral null zone. I'm sure you understand."
The fiend nods. "Depth also has its merit. Not that there can be much depth to the use of such an uncontrollable explosion. I find violent magic, as well as enchantment spells... unbearably boring. But people want spectacle, even if it's harmful to everyone around. They want love, even if it's fake. But illusions, summons, manipulations, healing... the depth and breadth of those magics are incredible. I can make a monster that will outclass a fireball any day when it comes to utility and even damage."
“Who might you be sir? If I may ask.” He puts the cookies away, his grip surprisingly strong for some teenager “And that’s good, I try to make things better, but you seem to be doing everything you can, cool.”
“Make a monster? Interesting, I find myself specializing in healing magic, but I’ve got a bit of understanding in every field. That’s what it means to be a magic scholar, even one of the shallowest variety. I simply seek to learn what I do not yet know for the sake of helping those who need it.”

He sighs and takes a sip himself. "I really don't want to lose my friend, even if they are kind of evil."
"So you do understand. That's good. Very good. We're going to fix things. See, we have this idea: if the nature of Mortalkind is to be evil, why not... remove that nature? They can be free, but they'd be more like us. Devoid of moral wickedness. Devoid of... yes, humanity. Doesn't that sound beautiful?"
"You care...but you also care about everything else... They can still be your friend.. and you don't agree...with what they want." He said "It is.. better you voice than keep.. it down. If they still want.. to be your..friend, they will accept..you do ..not agree with them." He says.
"Somewhat.. how would we remove hate and anger and evil from such a broad spectrum though?" Toboroth said.
Felix nods. "That's a good point. Thank you, Ichigo. You're a lot wiser than I am."
"Hate is a purely human emotion. Our... alterations remove it. Mortalkin have the potential to be such beautiful creatures. Beings of pure dark. A family, once and for all." It sounds very sentimental about this.
"I.. want you.. to be happy." He said "And if... you are not..happy, I want.. to help you find a way...to change that." He said, his tone empathic.
"That would be nice.." Toboroth said, crawling down the trees. He is massive, his body as long as a five car train and thick enough to rival redwood trees.
“What a beautiful thing the celestial, the stars above am’ everythin’ with them. Ya should tell me more ‘bout yerself, not just what ya do, but who ya are.” She says, retracting her claws.
He runs their arm softly “You want to get one while I get a lot? I suppose I’ll have to gift you another way somehow.”
He lets go of her, chuckling softly as he leans back, rocking them both in the chair.
He nods and sighs "I'm not that interesting unfortunately." He said and smiles again "Honestly.. I want to hear about you."
He chuckles and brushes a hand against the collar around his neck "You have already given me so much."
She hugs him happily, snuggling him.
She shakes her head “Sure ya are, I’m just some Goliath who used ta be a criminal, an’ ended up cursed. I just used ta travel, things like those. Ya know.” She says, blushing softly from the attention.
He shivers slightly at the touch “And ya have me, I’d probably still be trapped in hell if it weren’t fer ya.” He kisses the side of their mask.
*Happy end?*
He nods, listening along. "Still, that is more interesting than anything I have done or could do." He said, beaming.
"You don't deserve to be in hell. You deserve to be worshipped like the gods." He said
“I wouldn’t bet on that if I were ya.” She says, running a finger down the side of her face, beginning to go through her life, the highs and lows, every little thing she has done until coming here.
He shakes his head “Maybe ya do, but I’m just some Shifter from the west who’s a half decent shot. Love ya.”
"Still. You seem amazing, interesting... everything." He said, beaming.
"You are more than that." He said, poking him between the ribs.
She beams back at them, tucking hair behind her ear, still blushing “Don’t sell yerself so short.” She kisses her thumb, putting her thumb onto their forehead, leaving a lipstick mark there.
He chuckles as they are poked “Maybe, but I ain’t nearly as high as ya put me. I’m still just a man.”

"I'm just the Neighbor. Well, more than that, but I've been told to not spill the beans every time someone asks for my name. I'm here to help, no matter what. I'm well-versed in just about every field, aside from practical magic, I mean. I'm still just a man, after all. I have learned Prestidigitation, but that's the limit of my arcane might."
It turns around fully. It's not even close to human, but its faceless mask and tattered cloak add just enough ambiguity that when not facing it directly it could pass for a person. "You are a scholar? With a wide variety of interests and capabilities? Incredible. May I tutor you? It will be free, I just want to teach someone who is truly interested in learning."
This is an entity known as The Beast, which is a simple name for an incredible creature. It is sapient, and strangely nonviolent despite being an embodiment of evil. Its motives are unknown, but it seems to appear around major tragedies and desperate times. Whether it's drawn to them or it causes them is ambiguous.
It coughs and stands up. It hacks up some expensive-looking toys, all brand new. Then it chuckles. "Well, well... hunters. You remind me of mortalkind. If you are going to kill me, you might as well save us the time and do it quickly." It stretches and yawns, looking very doglike in the process. "It's not going to matter in the long run."
One of the pups charge, yelling in common. “YOU WILL BE DINNER!!!” He trips up on a branch and rolls to a stop at The Beast’s paw. Two other pups run out of their hiding spots. One yells, “Fenrir, you idiot,” while the other silently says to The Beast, “I’m sorry for his behavior.”
Sylvan comes out of his hiding spot with spear in hand. “I agree. Fenrir, the point of a surround ambush is that he doesn’t know where we are. Even if they say they know where we are, stay hidden in case they are pretending.” He turns to The Beast and bows. “I apologize for the children. I’ve only taken them on a few hunts as of now. And we’ve never met a benevolent being of their power before on one.”
"Some things never change." It laughs. "I was a father once, so I know how kids can be sometimes. All is forgiven." It lays back down. "I don't imagine I was very good prey, and for that I am sorry."
“Oh, I am not their father. I am caring for them as they are the children of Frella.” The Beast recognizes that as the name of the Wolf Mother. The Goddess of the Hunt and Souls. “But thank you for forgiving us.” One of the pups, the on that scolded Fenrir, speaks up. “And I’m sure, in a fight, you could hold your own.”
She continues to drink, eventually finishing her stories for the moment, smiling lovingly at them “It ain’t nothin’ I wouldn’t a done if I didn’t start lovin’ ya.” She says, chuckling softly.
He kisses them back passionately, his hands holding them for a moment “Thank ya.” He says, sighing.
He looks at them, surprised yet again “You have special skills in every kind of field? That’s very impressive, I guess just meeting you is an honor then huh?” He says, rubbing the back of his neck “Thanks for coming here to help people.”
He looks back to them, his eyes glowing a soft silver hue “I would be happy to be taught, though I am not as much as you would expect me to be. I only have been using magic in cases of research to assist my brother, who has been ill up to this point.”

"You make me happy. Everything about you makes me so, so happy, Ichigo. I want to keep you safe and happy as well."
The Neighbor continues grinning as if it weren't in massive danger if such a being even vaguely considered attacking. "I've gone ages without a family. My children hate me. My wife is long dead, as are all my other relatives."
"Some things never change." It laughs. "I was a father once, so I know how kids can be sometimes. All is forgiven." It lays back down. "I don't imagine I was very good prey, and for that I am sorry."

"Heh. I don't fight. I die. I found that even if I could wipe out a village with a single breath, it will never make me happy. Never make me fulfilled. So I'm happy to lay here and just watch the people who massacred my family and took my children... watch them just be awful to each other. Not like I could stop them. All I can do is show them where they have room to improve." It rolls back onto its side. "Even if you aren't the father, nothing is new under the sun. Children are crazy, beautiful creatures, and they need love and forgiveness from everyone."
"Of course. So many mortalkind here. Hateful, angry, diseased mortalkind to help. In our own way."
It chuckles. "Really? The twins? You saw how scared they were at the event. How confused they were. This isn't a problem you can handle with an uninformed decision. If your killer gets out, they'll be able to pull this crap again and again until someone does something about it. Imagine how bad a look that would be. You scared? Be scared. This is top priority... after the party, that is. I've never been a fey, but I know... hey... can't a fey tell when someone in their domain has broken the Law of Hospitality?" It chuckles. "I read about that once."
"You could, couldn't you? But you'll need to get up next year at least. Work to be done, lives to change."
She chuckles. ”I like you. care to have some tea?”
Her eyes widen at the last statement. “I- I don’t know what you’re talking about… Stop talking, right now.”
“Mm… gimme five minutes…”
"Oh, I would love some. I'm usually the one making the offer, so it really is a treat to have it offered to me." It straightens its already straight bow tie with a sort of pride it hadn't shown before.
*I KNEW IT* The Beast snorts. Then it cackles. It doesn't say a word, but it's laughing so hard it can barely breathe.
The Magus looks... endeared. It tucks Vanilla in and begins to hum the first ever Song of Rest to the young god.
Mother Misery buys him some tea, inviting it to sit with her.
*do you now?* Aurelia looks the beast dead in the eyes. ”no… They- either it was just an accident or-…. Or they somehow managed to h-hide from me-… that’s what happened… Leave. Leave and talk to nobody…or I’ll kill you.”
Vanilla smiles slightly, drifting off into sleep. They snore lightly, but thunder rumbles in the distance each time.

"And that is good enough. A healer. I have a good curriculum for you." It holds out a claw and summons a tome, the pages gently flipping. "What is your strongest spell? Your go-to in an emergency?"

“Most people don’t do any doing at all from what I understand. So the fact that you do makes you more than most right?” He asks, not wanting to step out of line.
He looks to the time, analyzing it for a moment before saying “I would have to say Divine Word, I don’t have the strength to cast ninth level spells, but most of my other spells help others with healing or making them temporarily stronger.”
"Oh, I would love some. I'm usually the one making the offer, so it really is a treat to have it offered to me." It straightens its already straight bow tie with a sort of pride it hadn't shown before.

It leers at her. "There is no murder you could commit that could silence me. But don't worry, I don't want to hurt you. I just want to watch you squirm. Guiltless, ugly thing. No better than Mortalkin." It licks its chops. "Kill me if you like. I am a part of a whole. A single appendage of a horrible octopus. You are helpless, and you are utterly alone. How ironic for a fey of all creatures."
The fiend sits in a rocking chair and opens a tome, reading and watching over Vanilla. *This seems like a good place to end it, unless you have yet another twist for me.*
