Thane is taking care of his child, he has nothing else to do at the moment, so this is the happy life he gets to live. He sits on the steps to the Inn, cradling the child in his arms.
*I'm gonna use my hunter, since I really want to test him out.*
Never (I described him a bit before) walks over and plops down beside Thane. Not too close, though. He has a strange device in his hands, and is looking up at the sky. "How's the weather been lately?"
“That likely depends on if it’s treated or not.” He says, letting his hair down from the bundles it stuck in.
“He’s, so he’s the last of his kind, a- and he’s starting to feel cold all the time, a- and I don’t know what to do, and…”
She sighs. “Am I going to have to knock you unconscious first or are you just going to let me heal you?”
for some reason, Vanilla has a slight smile on his face. “Oh gods! Or… oh me? Gah, you get it.. but that seems horrible… maybe I could help? I mean… I’m a god of sweets, but also hospitality and the hearth…”

He looks over to them, smiling at them politely before looking at the strange device curiously “It’s been… strangely normal for a place like this. I assume yer gonna do somethin’ ta change that?” He says, just giving a wild guess.
She nods along with their words, though she doesn’t understand too much of it, not being her field of understanding “Hmm, I ain’t gonna tell ya I understood all that, but I’m sure that you do.” She says with a smile.
He doesn’t lean back farther, looking back at it, not with hostility, though that’s his first instinct, but instead simply with a passiveness.
As soon as they round the corner into the alley Thane picks them up with one hand “I ain’t some kid, I know yer my boss an’ all, but ya don’t need ta watch my every move.”
“Basically, it merges the study of the brain with the study of how spells and magic move and interact with the ambient forces in the radiosphere. I’m not doing a good job of simplifying this, am I?”
“Hhhhhelllppp…” It croaks, its guttural voice barely audible.
“Whoa!” Rio is easy to lift but also offers no fight. “I’m just trying to make sure you stay safe, man. I know I gave you a tall order and I realized that it wouldn’t do well to send you out there without any protection. You’re exposing yourself to the world and you have quite a few enemies.”
“Ah don’t worry ‘bout it sweetheart, I ain’t helpin’ ya build it, but I know somebody who would take some real deep interest in this. Real handsome too.” She says, winking at them and cackling “Really though, he’d be happy ta help.”
He stands up, putting his helmet back on “Help with what? Where?” He says, having had nothing to do for days.
“I know I got enemies, but don’t worry ‘bout me. I’ll do self indulging an’ all that without gettin’ myself hurt. I’m strong, real strong I’d say.” He puts them back down on the ground, sighing and adjusting his bowler hat.
“Who’s he?”
It only emits a blank hissing sound.
“Okay. Just… I worry about you, y’know?”
“Names Arthur, I could set ya up with ‘em if ya want ta get ‘some work done’.” She says, happy to help.
He sighs “Can you show me how I can help at least?”
He smiles, nodding “Thank ya Riotan. It means a lot. How ‘bout ya help me, I ain’t exactly good at this whole self indulging thing.”
“Oh, I think I’m alright. But thanks! You’re too kind.”
“Killll… meeee…” It gasps.
He shrugs. “Why not? I’ve been doing it for billions of years, after all.”

No news is good news…
I'll lay a white rose on the cold earth, knowing it that it has not claimed your soul.
"Gah!" He drops the vial, but manages to catch it despite looking too hefty to make any quick movements. "W-where did you come from?" He stares for a second with his big, purple eyes. "Want some magic mochi?"
“I’m from… up north. Which is really more to the west. And west, heh, south, what’s the difference! And then a bit to the east… eh, doesn’t matter. I would love some magic mochi! Do YOU want some magic hot cocoa?”
"Oh, um, I can't eat with the mask on. Safety precautions, you know." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a black mochi powdered with grey sugar. "It's not actually made of rice, but of a special proto-life matter. I call it Dredge Solution, and it's filled with nutrients, protein, and just about everything needed to sustain life! And I even found a way to condense it into a palatable, dessert-like state!"

He smiles, looking at them “Is it going to hurt you as much as I think it will?” He asks in return, though he doesn’t reach for his things “I’ll let you, if you want to.”
Tim looks confused by the smile, but ecstatic at the thought of someone being able to help them “I- I think you can help, can you try? Please?” He asks, standing up and hugging them tightly.

“Well, anyone able to do that must be a genius!” He hops down and grabs the mochi, popping it in his mouth. He sits down on the ground, and a little campfire and two tree stumps materialize around them.

She smiles and gently grabs his hand, casting a ninth level heal. He regains a hundred hitpoints, and mother misery suddenly recoils, taking off her mask and weeping (and vomiting) copious amounts of black Ichor. He can hear her ribcage snapping as she takes on his damage, and the wound in his chest closes.

"Well, sort of. This thing," he lifts the eldritch machine a bit, "should let me see if there are any otherworldly incursions in an area. It does this by looking for magical phenomena. It has to be pretty strong, though, so anything short of a 7th level spell won't even create a blip. I originally designed it to catch Alkaliths, but it's good for a lot of things. I'm hoping one day to be able to stop dangerous portals from opening before they become a problem, and this is a step in the right direction."
Now Mauric looks mad. “Well I’m gonna find him and make him let you live. I don’t care what I have to do. God or not, he can’t get away with that.”
"I've been looking for like, three days. Any minute I'm not preparing is a minute I'm searching. At least, for a while it was. I gave up a bit ago. That's why I'm back at the tavern."
“That likely depends on if it’s treated or not.” He says, letting his hair down from the bundles it stuck in.

”I’ll definitely try! Where are they?”
He immediately moves to hold her, ignoring his own healing to feel at her ribs where his own wound would be replaced with theirs, Casting as high spells of healing as he can, though he’s not nearly as powerful when it comes to magic, only able to cast a few cure wounds.

“F-Felix’s house, they live there for now.”
She manages to stand up slightly, sitting back down on the bench, putting her mask back on. “Don’t worry… I’ll- (choking noises here) be fine… it’ll heal in a day or two… I’d have to be blown to bits twice over to die… and even then…”
“I wouldn’t say that either.” She says, patting their head
He doesn’t seem too shocked by it, unsheathing his blade and preparing to attack, flames trickling along it. (Do I have to roll for it?)
He nods, “Lead the way, and I’ll follow right behind.” He says, dusting off his clothes.
“Well, that’s what I assume based on how you’ve been acting toward me…”
*yeh*
“Well, what did you want to do? The self that’s indulging is YOURself, after all.”
“That’s how I act with everybody, well, everybody I like, an’ I like ya.” She says, smiling with her glistening sharp fangs.

It tastes really, unusually good. It's dense and kind of creamy in a way, and has some very pleasant flavors that don't seem like they should be able to be sensed by mortal taste buds. Fortunately, not a problem in this case. "Thank you!" he sits down on one of the stumps and slaps his round belly. "I've found out not to eat too many of them. See, the humanoid form isn't content with being a humanoid, it just doesn't have the right building blocks to develop further. Humanity is in an almost larval state compared to what it should be. Basically, this stuff, if prepared right, could lead to ascension. Right now, it doesn't really do that. It's very good for you, but you'll undergo some changes if you overeat. Unsurprisingly, gaining weight is a big one."
Now Mauric looks mad. “Well I’m gonna find him and make him let you live. I don’t care what I have to do. God or not, he can’t get away with that.”

“By ascension… do you mean turning into a creepy monster or an apotheotic ascension? That being, ascending to godhood. Because, I mean, this taste actually reminds me a bit of Ambrosia!”
