*i have arrived! I also am working on a concept for a dark power, if anyone wants to hear about it*
Vanilla is sitting at the bar of the tavern, continuing to sip hot cocoa as usual. They seem really bothered and irritated.
The Rippling court is fairly quiet in the late night, the lights a bit inconsistent. The Archduchess is nowhere to be found, but a strange sound can be heard distantly from the fountain, from the pipes: someone crying.
*Ooh, I'd love to hear! Tell me everything!*
KK, having been walking around and looking for evidence, hears the crying from the pipes, and begins looking for a way to locate the source of the sound.
*so basically, the general idea is: what would happen if you gave someone completely innocent, someone who had a heart full of absolute good, trust, naivety, and wonder, the powers of the domains of dread? This Dark Power, known simply as ‘the child,’ is a paragon of innocence and kindness. To start, at least. They have all of the powers of other dark powers, control over the mists, godlike strength, all that, and they were tasked by the universe to capture and punish the most heinous villains in the entire world, as all Dark Powers do. The terrifying part about it is that they are really, really good at their job.*
Roll me investigation!
*I love it! Definitely has a lot of potential for drama and emotional torment, as characters may get attached to the child once they're still sweet and nice, and watch as they devolve into chaos... >:D*
Investigation: 18
*indeed! All of my dark powers have something ironic about them. The embodiment of isolation desperately craved social interaction, the dark power of hunger is constantly wasting away from starvation, et cetera. I wanted to try, ‘a being of pure goodness is given the powers and responsibilities of a dark deity, what happens?*
She eventually finds a map of the pipes throughout Fontaine, which shows that the pipes of the fountain go directly to under the opera house, and they’re all connected to a giant pipe system that flows out to the sea at the edge of the city, which reaches out to the horizon of the domain.
*That kind of irony is always a fun extra detail. Sounds like an amazing idea you've got!*
After reading the map for a minute to find the quickest route, she bolts off in the direction of the nearest door or other passageway that leads to the pipe system proper.

She also notices… there are fish swimming throughout the water, which is absolutely crystal clear, and sparkling.

She eventually finds herself at the place she believes the cries are loudest, directly under the opera house. In a giant chamber where hundreds of pipe go up to provide the entire, giant building with water. From some of these pipes, that connect to the far end of the building, she can hear it most clearly.
”so hopeless… so l-lonely… when will it end?!” The voice wails above the rushing of the water. She can also hear the sound of glass breaking.
She cautiously looks to see if she can spot anyone, calling out to see if they're near. "Hello? Archduchess, is that you?" There is a clear tone of concern in her voice.

The sound reverberates throughout the system, and up through the pipes. The voice stops weeping immediately, and she can hear a panicked gasp before silence. Then, the turning of cogs and wheels, and a faint rushing of water. It gets louder… and louder… make perception rolls, two of them. One to identify the rushing of water, and the second to try and see if you can identify the voice.
*I just need to figure out how to intro them… aren’t Podmorski and KK running some demented theme park?*
*They're just starting to run one, yes! Thinking that may be a good spot to intro them?*
*yes, possibly! If that’s fine with you, of course. Does it have, like, rides and attractions, like a normal theme park? Because I remember reading the main attractions were KK’s mannequins.*
