Snow begins to lightly fall, heralding the arrival of a traveler. Each step of her paws forms a rhythm in tandem with the jingle of her staff and the swish of her long dappled tail on the cobblestones. Hayden just arrived at the tavern, and is at a table tinkering with her radio.
Sha’dia sits at a table alone and pulls out a drinking skin. She pours its still-steaming contents into two wooden cups. Holding the warm drink in her hand, she breathes in the steam yet hesitates to drink it.

She laughs, her barrel chest expanding with laughter as she slaps their shoulder “Ya got me with it, but don’t worry none, liked the happy memories.” She smiles.
He looks down to all of them, sighing as heavily as humanly possible “I would rather not have to deal with all of this.” (Quick question, would John get anything because he’s devoted himself to Riotan’s cult?)
“Just a little self hatred, you heard about me getting arrested right?”
Hayden blushes again a little. "No problem. Still working on rounding out my magic."
"I made these for you to kill! That's the whole point! They're little guys to practice your awesome paladin swordery with!"
"Yes, I did. But you're out, and doing well, aren't you?"
She notices the blush, “Yer doin’ real good, looks like a know a few people who’re real good with magic.”
He sighs “Okay, I was taking a nap, but thank you for the gift. Also, you can just call it swordsmanship.” He reaches down to one of them, picking it up curiously.
“In terms of life, quite, in terms of mental health, less so unfortunately.” He smiles “But I’ll be fine, I always am.”
"Thanks! I do my best..."
The quasit is made of rooster, rat, and lizard parts, and it squirms in futility. "That's a less fun word though!"
"Well, don't just push through and assume things will work out. Take time to address your pain and try and reconcile with it."
“Looks like yer best is real good, ain’t it?” She says, sitting her firewood down for a moment.
He begins slowly squeezing on it, his grip crushing as he plans to kill it this way “I…” He sighs “It’s not worth the effort with you.”
He shakes his head “Don’t worry about me Thirteen, I already got the speech from Mauric and Saphuno. I’ll be okay.”
"I guess. I've seen stronger mages though."
"I'm not worth it? You've hurt my feelings." Rio pouts exaggeratedly.
"Good to hear."
“That doesn’t mean you aren’t strong. Just, less so.” She pats their shoulder “Now, why do ya blush so much around me?”
He crushes the creature in his hand before looking to them “A threatened to stab you when we met, you’ll live a few sour words.”
He walks back into the kitchen “Do you want anything to eat? I’m getting better at cooking every day.”
"What? No I don't..."
"Maybe little things hurt me more than larger things because they fit through the chinks in my armor." He pouts.
"I am alright, but thank you for offering."
“Ya know yer cute when ya lie.” She says, baiting it out.
“Oh? The demon doesn’t like it when his feelings get hurt? I guess I’ll keep that in mind.” He says, standing up, crushing each of the little creatures.
“Oh come on, please, let me show you how much I’ve grown. How has life been for you? Has anything new happened?”
"I... I am?"
"Well, were the targets satisfactory?"
"Not really. My apprentice made herself a familiar though! I suppose things just happen on a slower scale for me."
“Very. Ya should find yerself someone who’ll love ya.” She says, picking her firewood back up “I can’t though.”
“I like them, easy to crush, but it’s fine. Maybe something more challenging would be nice. You don’t have to though.”
“You have an apprentice? We need to have these talks more often, I’ve been worried about you.”
"..." Hayden looks momentarily sad, but nods. "...alright." She then heads back to the inn.
"Oh, don't worry. I'll get you a nice-sized hezrou. Consider it a late holiday gift. Or slightly less late if you're Jewish."
"You, worried about me? I've worked through most of my issues with all the time I've spent alive. I'm quite alright, Damian. But it would be nice to talk more, I agree."
“See ya Hayden, love ya, if not romantically. Sorry I can’t.” She waves them off, a little sad too, walking back into the forest.
He smiles, sitting back down, taking his blade from next to him, beginning to sharpen it “My origins never mattered to me. I don’t think I’ve met the first member of your cult.”
“There is some bad things, even with the long life you’ve lived. Maybe I’m just a worried guy.” He chuckles, continuing to cook for people “Oh yeah, and I can turn into a demon now. Also, do you want a god in a bottle?”

However, she was able to survive with the intervention of a powerful ghost, the specter of a long-dead child with a gift for magic who perished in an avalanche.
