A new town has sprung up about two miles from the inn. They have been providing gifts of food and textiles to the inn and its residents. But something is off about the people. Maybe it's their generosity to creatures that absolutely don't need or potentially even deserve such generosity. Maybe it's their odd clothing and hoods. Maybe it's the size of the produce and proteins they bring. No matter the cause for concern, there absolutely seems to be one.
Oval peeks from behind a tree, looking at it all with mild confusion.
They seem to have built their town on the water, making small islands to put buildings and farms on. Said farms seem to be producing seemingly oversized plants and animals, from pumpkins to pigs, some being almost twice the size usual for them.
It seems to be time for some sort of evening gathering. The people are all dressed in brown and orange, with dirty aprons and cornucopia-like hoods. They evoke feelings of the harvest season and gentleness.
Oval watches the giant-sized plants and animals with fascination, but she stays rooted to her spot, watching the people move about.
She hears heavy breathing behind her. "Don't be afraid. They're friendly. I made them that way."
Zenix is watching the newcomers from the rafters, a small raven on his finger
Nerm, a nervous looking firbolg, is sitting outside in the tall grass, a small fiery jackrabbit hopping around
Vega is humming to himself inside, swirling two stones in the air seeming telekinetically
Yuri is watching, her delicate hand holding her head as she chuckles. "Whatcha thinking?"
Edwin, a mustached Half-elf, walks over and waves silently. He sits across from him a few feet away, raising his goggles off from his eyes.
Oval jumps on him, growling playfully like a little wild cat. "Rwar!"
"There's lots of them" He muses, "But they don't seem troublesome for us."
Nerm gives a slight wave back, "H-hello."
Vega laughs, catching her, "Hey there tiger" He grins
"We may hope" she chirps and pokes his cheek "No killing them until i can drain em tho"
He smiles again and waves again. He points to the jackrabbit and digs in his satchel. He pulls out a cube of bronze only for it to suddenly blink. It was a dopey little Modron.
"Hi hi!" she said with a grin "How are you?"
"Of course my dear" He smiles, leaning back slightly
The jackrabbit hops over, sniffing the little cube. Despite the fact it's made of fore, nothing around it seems to be lighting
"I'm well. How are you kiddo? Behaving with all the new people?"
She purrs in delight and jumps down, seeming to float to bottom.
The Modron freaks out a bit and tries to scramble back into Edwin's satchel before hiding behind him. Edwin chuckles silently and smiles.
"I am.... t r y i n g." She said and chuckled "Just a lot of people..."
Zenix watches for a bit, a calm smile on his face as he admires her
The jack rabbit flinched, before bolting off into a random direction and tumbling as it trips over a root, landing in its back next to nerm
"Yeah, lots of newcomers" He says, setting her down somewhere comfy, "But they seem nice enough individually"
She looks back up "Your staaaariiiing" she says in a sing-song voice.
The modron looks back around and slowly walks back over. It carries a small wildflower as it slowly holds it out to the rabbit. (IM SO TEMPTED TO MAKE THIS MODRON A CHARACTER NOW.)
She kicks her legs happily "I suppose, just... people." she said and shrugged.
He leans on one hand, "You can't blame me though" he says with a smile
The rabbit sniffs the flower, letting a soft sneeze out the sets one of the petals on fire (mechanus would very much enjoy nerm lol)
"Yeah I feel that. Been keeping my distance for the most part"
"You flatter me and stroke a terribly flaming ego." She says and chuckles, tilting her head.
Edwin silently chuckles as the Modron watches the the fire flare a bit and burn up the flower into ash. It holds the ash in its small palm and smiles a bit, offering the ashes to the flaming jackrabbit.
"Why? Your better at talking than me" she said and grinned.
"I can't speak lies, so I simply must flatter" He says, dropping down onto the floor
The rabbit, who I will be referring to as Jacky, flips iver onto its feet, pushing its snout unto the ashy palm
"And yet, I'm nit a people person" He laughs, "I guess years of training my magic made it difficult to understand social aspects"
"Hmph, thats not fair then." She said and kisses his cheek happily.
The modron laughs quiet as Edwin looks up at Nerm. He signs in ASL 'Hello there. I am sorry i cannot speak very well.'
"Hehe, its fine." She said and poked his arm "I bet you could make so many friends"
"Alls fair in love and war yuri" He smiles, kissing her cheek back
Nerm nods softly, signing back 'it's ok. I don't mind not having to talk'
"You're more likely to make friends stubby." He says, poking her cheek with a smile
She stuck out her tongue and turned into a light orange fox and sat on his shoulder.
'You understand ASL?' he signed and tilted his head. The Modron picked up a small stick and holds it out to Jacky.
"I am not stubby!!" she says and huffs.
Zenix smiles, stroking her fur as a raven sits beside her
He nods, 'I'm not exactly the talkative type back home' he signs as Jacky eats/burns the stick
"Yeah you are. Short Lil legs" He says, poking her nose
She huffs and nips at the raven. "Off, he's mine." she said and flicked her tail.
'Thats understandable. You have a lovely fire spirit.' he signs and smiles.
"Your just tall!!" she says and tries to nip his finger.
The raven squacks, a bit annoyed, but relents when zenix nods, flying off to do something else as zenix pets her chest, "You're rather adorable as a fox."
'Yeah... Jacky doesn't mean to cause trouble' he smiles softly
He moves his finger out of the way quickly, laughing, "Sure I am. But you're also short."
She puffs out her fluff a bit, huffing. "I know." she says and nuzzles him.
'Its fine. 5F doesnt seem to mind, im trying to get them to make friends.' He signed and chuckled silently.

She tumbles down toward the village, seeing glimpses of the gargantuan creature that had somehow snuck up behind her as she rolls. Several townspeople rush to catch her before she rolls into something hard.

She lies there, perplexed. She blinks a few times before jumping away from the people. "I-I am f-fine"
He smiles, walking outside a little for fresh air as fox Yuri nuzzles him
'A modron right? Didn't know they left the plane of order much' he asks
"You're a kid oval, it's fine to be stubby at your age"
"Whatcha gonna do today hm?" she askes and tilts her head.
'Their a rogue one. Found them wondering my workshop." he said with a smile.
"IM TEN THO!!" She squeaks again.
"Maybe hunt." He muses, "I've seen some... rather disagreeable people in the forest."
'Neat. I figured they'd be captured or something' he smiles
"Ten is still a kid" he laughs
"Oooh!" She grins happily and wiggles a bit "A hunt you say! how fun!"
'They got know where to go and im not skilled in portals so... i keep them under the radar.' He grins again as the Modron gathers up random twigs for Jacky.

Several of them bow to her as others arrive, carrying food, drinks, and pillows. They stand back at a safe distance. None of them make any noise.

HELLO SYLVAN. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? says a familiar unearthly voice from behind him.
You can see a green skinned Tiefling with stag horns resting by a tree with a Blink dog laying its head in his lap.
