A figure clad in armor walks in to the Library, and approaches the librarian.
"Where might I find books on magic fungus?"
Nai is suddenly there. “Hello. The book is here.” She throws it towards them. “But the story doesn’t end with gas spores. It’s just the tip of the iceberg.”
"Thanks? Sorry, what the [gp] do you mean by that? And what do you mean, "the book"? Is there only one?"
“Oh no no no, there’s plenty of books. But this is the best one. I was borrowing it for my research, ya see. I am an expert in truths that have been covered up.”
"Oh, you're one of those dumb [gp]s that thinks [gp] is more complex and controlled than it really is."

"I'm afraid I haven't kept track." Upon closer inspection, the shreds of flesh on the barbed wire appear to be little red hanging flowers, growing from grey thorns that have a faint metallic sheen. Simulated violence.
Vittorsi smiles gently at the flowers. "My name is Virtue.. A pleasure to meet you." He bows, his actions very polite.
"My name is Cathan. Are you hungry at all? I just got back with some gourmet ingredients, like peppers and fish cabbage. Have you ever had fish cabbage?"
He smiles "I thank you for your offer but I feel rather ill at the moment. I am sorry, I would very much love to dine with you."
"Oh. Right. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have offered so soon after you threw up. That was somewhat insensitive of me. Virtue is a nice name, by the way." Cathan seems to shrink slightly as the thorns retract under his coat.

Vittorsi is trying to sew up the holes in his shirt quietly, his mind racing a thousand miles per hour as he tries to figure what year it is.

"Oh, it's not that I feel like I need to. You see, I'm a botanist, and most of my specimens are edible, so I need to cook them up or sell them before they rot so I don't waste them. They're very, very good. And expensive. Normally I can sell the produce for hundreds of gold pieces for each fruit, vegetable, tea, or seasoning, but I don't need much money right now. I would much rather put them to use than sell them to someone who'll probably just eat half of it at a big feast and throw away the rest."
He sounds excited about his plants, and his nervousness seems to disappear while he's talking about them.

"I love to grow chili peppers and cinnamon, but lately I've been growing habanero-types and various spices. The hardest would have to be blood bonnets, which I bred myself. They only grow in the Gourmet Nightmare, where violence is plentiful. They are one of the most delicious peppers that I've ever grown, but I have to sneak through a phantasmal battlefield to check on them. Luckily the bugmen, which are monsters that look somewhat like soldiers, don't want to fight me because of my mimicry, poison, and hallucinogenic abilities. They stay away from my gardens, too, and leave any bodies lying around as a sort of offering. In their eyes, I'm a sort of war god. I'd tell them the truth, but they're not very complex animals and would either not understand or tear me limb from limb."
