*I simply must rant about House of Slaughter because this is going to tie in with a character who I am introducing tomorrow.*
*House of Slaughter is the system of houses based around the Seven Shield Families. They follow the will of St George, the Original Monster Hunter. Their house is divided up into four sections based upon masks. Scarlet, Blue, White, and Black.*
*The Scarlet Masks are keepers of tomes and lore based around each type of monster. They are oldest of the inner families. They, like the Blue Masks unlike the White Masks or Black Masks, avoid teaching children until they have proven themselves able to defend against monsters.*
*The Blue Masks are Harvesters and Farm Keepers. They study monsters and keep them in containment in 'farms'. These farms are typically used for training purposes for new White Masks and Black Masks.*
*White Masks and Black Masks are hunters. Typically they take in children who have lost their parents and train them to become hunters of monsters. Unfortunately, this training starts very early and can end up with only a few surviving till adulthood. Once training is completed, they earn their teeth. All masks start off as a White or Black Masks and can choose their profession later on, choosing to become another color if wished.*
*Totems also play a great role in the House of Slaughter. Totems are monsters that are bound to service a Mask for life, unwillingly. They are usually detectors of other monsters and a source of power for the Mask. Unfortunately, incidents have occured where a totem has manipulated a Mask and manipulated the Mask into releasing it. While this has not been documented much, there are incidents where many people have been killed because of it.*
