They hear someone playing a fast fiddle song. Fire on the Mountain, if they know the song. The smell of barbecue floats through the air, alongside floating, burning ash bits.
*Why thank you*
Raphael puts their knitting away, sniffing the BBQ and the ash, looking around for the source
*Listening to it now*

Hi everyone! I'm working up the will to finalize my signature, so... I guess this will be the signature for now
Erebus sleeps in the darkness of minds, the little shadows that call out to you. The comforting world as you close your eyes. He knows what you fear but also knows what you love. He has watched kingdoms fall, rise, and fall once more. His eyes have watched as his sister and brothers formed the sky, the seas, the world. It was beautiful and he wanted to create something of his own.
From threads of gold and a heart made of bronze, he forged a daughter. He named her Fos, his light. She was nothing compared to other gods and such but to him, she was a princess.
Her skin was the same inky blackness of her father's. Her arms long and skeletal with sinews holding them together like string. She had a long tail, twice the length of her body that was fitted with glowing golden scales. Her eyes were large and pitch black to see in the dark realm of her father's. While she had a face, it wasn't actually used for anything other than talking. Her real mouth was along the expanse of her stomach, giant gaping thing that sensed the wavering movement of creatures in the dark and gulped them down with needle-like teeth.
Fos was odd to say the least, but what do you expect from the daughter of Darkness.
Something bubbles to the surface of the lake near the tavern, like a puddle of ink spreading out across the watery surface. A small head pops out from the inky waters, looking around with large black eyes ins curious manner. Long silver hair floats around like a halo.
Caramel, who had been looking for fish to nonlethally torment, sees this. She meows loudly to the person.
They blink and grin, waving a webbed hand.
She motions with one paw for the person to get closer.
She swims over a bit. A small, timid telepathic voice enters Caramels head. <Hello!>
<Hello. How did you come to be here?>
She points to the inky spot in the lake. <There.>
<And where does it go?>
<Papa's home!> She giggles but it sounds more like a gurgle.
<That’s nice. I don’t remember my father much, but male cats leave after mating, and it’s been 300 years.>

"What is your name?" He turns his claw over, letting her examine it.
A tiny, timid voice enters his head <Fos!> They raise their head a bit more. Golden freckles cover her cheeks, glowing against her inky black skin. Her silver falls over her like a veil. She beams, giving a chipped tooth grin.
"That's a nice name. Why are you in the lake? Just tryin'a beat the heat?"
Eito feigns nonchalance, walking by Raphael and humming.
“Coffee, huh?” A voice says from behind.
*Desciption?* Raphael waves to them. "Who might you be?" They ask, before picking up their knitting while talking
Greg is spooked, and turns around. "Yep, been a long day."
*humanoid with skin seemingly made of black velvet, no facial features, runes made of white and lilac light on back, chest, legs, and arms, long fingernails, no toes, halo made of light* “Eito. I’m just a humble traveler through this life.”
A caracal-like tabaxi with a wide grin and yellow eyes, wearing a worn sleeveless mail shirt and white pants cuffed at the knee is smiling at him. “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle ya. I’m Mauric. A chef. New here.”

There is some sort of construct on a hill outside, burning as it plays the song. There is cooking meat wrapped around it like armor. The bright fire from the being shines quite beautifully as the sun sets.

Raphael to Eito (telepathy): You an angel? "Pleasure to meet you travelor. What brings you here?"
*Reminds me I need bring in Yacatl, my tabaxi* Greg nods no, quickly composing themselves. "Oh, no need to apologize, good sir. Just a bit jumping... coffee and all." They joke. "Pleasure to greet you, Mauric." They say, offering a hand to shake

They think on this. "How big of a concept? Of simply lack of light, or the gaps between stars and that which lurks on the edge?"
