Josiah seems to understand and places the ribs back. "I have been blessed with fire from birth. If my flames make you uncomfortable, I could douse them for a bit. It's kind of hot in here anyway." It pulls back its sack-cloth hood, revealing multiple skulls woven together with thin sticks and twigs. Only two eyes are ever "open" at one time.
"No, I just wanted to double check. Who... might you be? Beyond a simply name." They ask Josiah
"I am... a hero. And a gift from the gods. I do not mean to sound conceited, but that is how I've been described before. I spread seeds across lands and nurture them. Ashes fertilize the ground where I walk, and the meat I cook is given to whoever wants or needs it."
"Most interesting... reminded me of friend of mine... a gardener of their own, so to say. Well, Josiah, how do you decide what to plant where?"
"If they grow, they grow."
"There is an old parable, and I would like to share it. I took it literally, but I also took it for its metaphorical meaning. 'A farmer went out to sow his seed.As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.'"

*fun fact, that’s my second favorite parable*
Raphael nods on it, reflecting. “And what do you feel should be taken away from it?”

"There are many ways faith can fail to take root. Choked out by the hardships of life, taken away by evil, or the recipient just not being in the right mindset to accept it. It is because of this parable that I do not try and force my religion on people. I can teach them, but I cannot force them to learn."

Fos was wading around the shallow ends of the lake she emerged from. The inky black darkness still bubbled in the center of the waters, looking like a hole under the waves.
She was trying to find small fish, cupping them gently in her webbed hands and studying with with child-like wonder. Her ear fins flapped back and forth as her freckles glowed bright yellow.
She let the small fish go, grinning a chipped tooth smile. She waved at the small fish as it swam back to safety amongst the reeds and lake grass.
Caramel is pacing angrily in Theren’s vicinity, ranting in unintelligible cat speech.
Eito is looking for a place to purchase alchemist’s fire in town.
Mauric is hiding in a back room in the Inn from Raphael.
"Calm down." theren grumbles
Nick pops in. "Are you ok?"
<NO! That ungrateful fool left me here! I’ve been covering for him since the minute he left the Inner Planes! He can’t handle social interactions! Would he be friends with Heward or have made amends with Yuberon without me? NO! He thinks I can’t handle it, but he can barely handle walking outside!> Caramel hisses furiously.
“…yes?…”
