The man is about to say something, then a distant growl can be heard from downstairs. "I'm sorry, that's just the generator. We run on negative energy, and the generator gets a bit antsy around living creatures. It's not dangerous as long as you keep your distance, though."
Kelipso raises an eyebrow and tilts his head "Like pain, saddness?"
"Er, more like death and undeath. It's extremely dangerous if not controlled properly, but I've spent decades learning how to harness it. I typically try to avoid hurting people, so while negative emotions are powerful, I've never learned to harness them as a power source."
"So your a nercomancer?"
"Yes, but I prefer the term 'negative energy scientist.' Flesh is a popular medium where I come from, although they typically use chemicals and electricity instead of negative energy. However, since my own reanimation, I've been enamored by this force, and have dedicated my afterlife to finding a use for it. And by that, I mean a use for the common man who doesn't want to learn my craft. Unfortunately, my work is considered taboo in most places, so I created this demiplane so that I could work in peace. I guess I left the door open, huh?"
Kelipso eyes widen "You would Jason then, he could work for you. He's.... a.. well a killer." he said
"That would be incredibly helpful! I mean, I wouldn't want him to kill anyone extra for me - this Jason fellow is a he, correct? - but I will buy the bodies of anyone he kills. For a fair price, of course. To be perfectly, crystal clear, I don't want anyone to die who wouldn't have been killed anyway without my involvement."
"May i ask what you do with this energy once you have it? while i am all for science i want to know what you will do"
"My original plan was to make undead servants accessible to everyone, but it turns out most people are terrified of them no matter how they look. My new idea is to supply limitless, clean power to the common people, unlocking whole new areas of technology to be explored. The problem is, it takes a lot of negative energy for it to become self-sustaining. Thus, nightwalker in the basement. The reason I need bodies is that living people can't exactly set up a negative energy generator without dying."

The necromancer gets up and starts pacing. "It's not chained, but it's not exactly free willed, either. You see, a nightwalker is a barely intelligent creature directly from the negative energy plane. Their sole purpose, normally, is to wipe out all life in existence, and they have many powers that assist to that end. However, I have used magic to sway it's mind and give it a new purpose: sustaining life by providing clean, efficient energy to all creatures in need."

You see, a nightwalker is a barely intelligent creature directly from the negative energy plane. "You see, these are closer to demons than people. No, actually, nightwalkers are significantly worse. They don't actually 'think.' They're basically constructs made entirely out of death itself. Even a demon can inadvertently do some good. These things exist solely to destroy life. Me swaying its mind actually made it far more intelligent, since it can now understand anything beyond 'all life, warmth, and movement must be destroyed.' I'm sorry, but I too have a fondness for undead, and I know that this is the best possible outcome of this creature's existence, for both us and it."

The problem is, it takes a lot of negative energy for it to become self-sustaining. Thus, nightwalker in the basement. The reason I need bodies is that living people can't exactly set up a negative energy generator without dying."
"You have something chained downstairs in the basement" Kelipso asked, his eyes narrowing.
"so its better to chain it up then let it go free?" he asked, tilting his head in confusion "I don't mean for it to sound rude or to go against your beliefs but shouldn't all things, even if thy are bad, be allowed to be free?"
Kelipso sighed and stood up "Im sorry, but knowing what you said i can't let Jason work for you" he said "I was ok with the idea of using dead things for fuel but deliberately turning the dead into undead is a terrible thing to do to the body" he said and looked at his own hands "I am a undead on so many levels that could be debated by scholars for ages but i didn't want to be this way and neither should the undead"
"Well, I'm sorry that you feel that way. Even if I do source my bodies humanely, I guess I couldn't have a business partner that is against the creation of undead as a concept. I hope this doesn't mean that we can't be friends, but given the severity of the issue that may be a false hope."
"It is not all lost, we can be friends still. While we may not agree of the ethics of the undead, it is still a minor thing" he said and smiled a bit "Im Kelipso Lilywhite by the way"
The necromancer smiles. "Walter Strauss. Glad we could meet."
"as am i" he said and bowed his head "Tell you son that his head looks cuddly" kelipso said and left through the door.
