 In the trees is a figure that sinks into the shadows, reappearing in a section of the forest not on fire. They look to be a man somewhere in his fourties, with dark skin covered in white freckles with braided long ginger hair. A unicorn-like horn protrudes from their forehead and they’re dressed in loose tan clothes, as if from a desert. There’s a worried expression on his face as he watches, knuckles white from gripping a black iron glaive.

 The mech points a strange rifle, many times bigger than the man, and a speaker opens from the mech's side.

A robotic, garbled voice barks a single word. "Karrakin?"

 The man casts Comprehend Languages and points his glaive. “What are you? Why are you rampaging?” He sounds worried, cautious, but not hostile.

A large crashing noise comes from the forest by the tavern, and the repetitive sound of machine gun fire pings off of metal. You can see small trees being slammed aside as a heavy thumping noise shakes the forest. A large metal machine with a vaguely humanoid shape breaks through the tree line and takes cover behind a boulder. The bright orange vents on the mech's shoulders and back open, and a rush of hot air can be seen blowing back the grass around it. The mech holsters its flamethrower, and tosses a grenade into the forest behind it.

 Make a perception check. Something is watching from the trees.
