"I need something better than a kitchen knife. I always wanted to wield an axe, you know. Like a giant cleaver. but that would be expensive. Just a hatchet or something would be perfect."

"No, no, even a big meat cleaver wouldn't work. Tools and weapons are fundamentally different in how they're forged. With a tool, it needs to be sturdy and effective. It's more of an engineering problem: how can I make this work? Weapons need to work perfectly every time. They need to be light enough to wield for an entire fight, sharp enough to cut through leather, and strong enough not to break. Weapons are more of an art. Of course, either one can be art or engineering depending on the designer and the purpose, but I doubt such a tool as a rusty, oversized cleaver would make a good weapon in this case."

'Fair enough. In which case, I'm afraid I can't help ya. Most of my wares are already damaged, that's kinda how they come into my possession in the first place'

"If it was a weapon to begin with, I can probably get it to work again. It's the forging that matters, and although well-maintained weapons would be better, I can't be too choosy with my coin."
"Actually, I could go- nevermind, I just remembered where you live. Yeah, I'd like you to bring some weapons for me to peruse. I've only got around 5 gold to spend, which may sound like a lot, but in the eyes of adventuring gear shops it's pauper's coin."
'Sure, I can go do that. Wait, I never told ya where I lived. How ya figure it out, huh?'
"You said you lived under the city, you mentioned eating actual garbage, and you're covered in unspeakable substances. It's not hard to piece together."
'How ya gonna find heroes, and tell them apart from the meatheads who just want to crack a couple skulls?'
"I'll know. You can identify good people by seeing how they treat those subservient to them. Being a cook, I'm automatically 'lesser' in their eyes, and they'll probably see me as just a servant who comes with them on adventures."
''Lesser'? Seriously? Ya a business owner, with a rich family, If they think ya lesser than them, then they're delusional. Or influential enough to be a serious problem.'

*Hey Baalze when are you planning to intro Szeruachz?*
*I kinda missed my window, I think.*
*Well Gibber still hasn’t separated the underworld from the Smorgasworld. Maybe when he does that, there’s a dimensional gap and Szeruachz goes through it like the demon he is*

"You'd be surprised what it takes to impress an adventurer. A rich family is common among their rank, and in a lot of their eyes businesses exist to serve them, not the other way around."
