Omori is hiding in a small corner of the Inn. If it wasn't for occasional crying sounds coming from that corner, one might not even know she's there.
Theren crouches down infront of her. "Hey are you ok?" he asks softly
"I... I don't know..." the shadow in the corner replies. "I did exactly what I was told, but... I think it was a mistake..."
He keeps his voice calm and soft. "Mind telling me what you did? Im not gonna judge ya."
"...I let my boss come to this world. It was my biggest purpose... I was made for it... but now, I'm scared. I'm scared she's going to hurt people because I followed her orders... I don't know what to do... if there's anything I even can do..."
"Well we wont let her. I wont at least." he says kindly
"...Thank you. I'm sorry I got everyone into this mess... I didn't know she was..."
"No no no. its okay." Theren says, holding out his hand trying to bring her out of the shadows
Reluctantly, a hand materializes from the dark and weakly grabs his own.
He gently pulls her out. "hi..my names Theren.."
The rest of Omori forms together from the shadows. "Hi... I'm... I'm... Omori?"

The woman is walking in the woods herself, tapping the ground with her cane as her dog gently tugs her toward Benimaru. "You must have good vibes. Hershey hates the smell of cigarettes, but he still wanted me to meet you."
*desc copy-pasted from her intro:*
A middle-aged woman with a white cane and a seeing-eye german shepherd by her side is walking toward the inn. She has dark skin, dark hair, and what could be assumed to be dark eyes could they be seen under the brim of her baseball cap. She looks like she just got off work at a fast food place, still dressed in the white and yellow waitress uniform, complete with the neck tie and short waist apron. However, she wears a jacket over her shoulders, covered in little charms that look like monstrous little critters arranged out of random parts, but crafted with great care. Clearly not part of any dress code.
Her dog is a healthy-looking weight (german shepherds are supposed to be skinny, not "healthy-looking") and carries even more charms on its harness. It looks very happy to be here, and wags its tail constantly.
He squats down to the dog, raising an eyebrow at both of them as he pets them behind the ears “I think I’m good with animals, good to hear that I’m not wrong.” He blows some smoke which shapes the words ‘Chill’, his right eye glowing as he using his pyrokinetic abilities “This is a good dog you got here. I’m Shinmon Benimaru, who are you?”
The dog sits, and the woman nods. She's facing Benimaru, but not actually looking at him.
"Elaine. I'd tell you my last name too, but I don't actually have one for some reason. I'm a monster collector in the High Potential category. Sorry, monster hunter. My bosses are insistent that I use their terminology."

“Well it doesn’t look like your bosses are around to me, so I don’t care what terminology you use. After all, if a tree falls in the forest and all that.” He smiles at them, offering them his gourd of sake with one hand, looking at the dog with a bit of love that isn’t often found in his eyes “I hope it’s nice to meet you Elaine.”

She doesn't seem to notice his offer, but the dog definitely notices the love in his eyes. It lays down at his feet, looking up at him with big, begging eyes. it wants more pets, and possibly the sake.

“It goes as well as it can when you’re a soldier for an army you don’t want to be in.” He chuckles and pets the dog more, pouring a handful of sake into the dog’s mouth, carefully of course because he doesn’t want to Waterlog this dog.

The dog loves it very much, and loves Benimaru equally. It licks at his face and hands.
"Yeah, I feel you man. Well, not really. I guess you could say I do want to be in mine, but only because I don't really have a choice if I want to kill God. And I guess it's more of a highly regimented and controlled mercenary task force owned mutually by the American, Japanese, and Eng... actually, I don't care. I can sympathize, anyway. Not perfectly, obviously, but I know enough to know that it's rough."

I was never interested in fighting for the army, just keeping my region safe you know? But when you’re the strongest around, suddenly the responsibility is all yours to carry.” He hasn’t really had a connection to his home, so this dog kinda is saving him more than he is it.

*Awesome. I've decided to stop writing up big scary monster statblocks for my characters, because I don't see the point at this, well, point.*
*It's more that I try and write a short story about them to see how I would feel about them and where my brain wants them to lie on the scale. This creature is falling in with pure Chaos but remains neutral.*

"Fighting sucks. I just throw out a monster and hope my team recognizes that it's not going to kill them. I only have like, one fighter left. Really sucks that 'high potential' basically means 'you're a loose cannon so we're throwing you at the worst things we can find.' Lots of recruits die, and a lot of them die because they get teamed up with me and don't understand the difference between my minions and an actual threat to their health. But they still keep sending me their dumbest kids. I'm sure everyone looks like a rookie to you, so you get it."
She sits down and pulls out three home-made bento boxes. They're still warm. "One of these was for my latest recruit. He went home the instant he was out of sight. It's beef wellington, if you're interested."
