Elaine turns her head, hearing the rustling in the grass. "Whose there?" Hershey (her dog) dashes over and bends down, clearly wanting to play with the undead cat.
The Demon looks over. "Impressive work! I thought I was the only one with advanced weaponry around here. I guess I'm not as advanced as I thought."
Caramel goes over to Elaine and rubs against her leg, purring.
Loriche looks up. “Oh this isn’t advanced. It’s just a sharp ladder that rolls places.”
She freezes, thinking. Then she reaches down to pet Caramel. "You're undead, aren't you? Someone's familiar, or perhaps a symptom of something bad. Either way, I think this deserves some attention."
He points to the barrels. "I've never been able to use chemical weapons. Tried my darndest, but I can't keep them stable enough to only effect one target, and I don't like collateral damage. Anyway, I think that's plenty advanced. Most people don't think to use any tactics beyond 'stab them harder than usual.' Doesn't work against castles."
<A familiar, yes.> She responds telepathically. <I just came here to tell you that the necromancer you encountered recently has altered the wards he set up to allow you to enter.>
“Oh. Well, there will be collateral damage. Lots of it. But I don’t want to harm anybody with it, it was just for fun.”

"Oh. Thank you. I was hoping to pick up some contracts. I'm kind of like a... I guess 'big bad' is the best term for it. I give Monsters bigger powers so that they can do their jobs better. I can help humans too, but they tend to be a bit picky about aesthetics. Unfortunate for me, huh?" She chuckles.
"Like fireworks! Oh, I love fireworks. Nearly lost a hand to a firecracker once. The Directress was quite mad at me for it, but she couldn't kick me out since she only had four other orphans. Anyway, I'm Simon. Do you mind if I ask your name, Mx?"
A shortish traveler with a blindfold and cane arrives at the inn. She has a thick woolen hood pulled over her head and shoulders, and peasant's clothes. A roughly-carved kuksa hangs from her leather belt
This blindfolded traveler would smell rotting flesh in the air nearby, but not like the smell of death, not yet at least. The Leper rests at a table outside of the tavern, looking to the distance with a gaze that tells every story ever told, a long and strange life.
With morbid curiosity she walks closer to the rotting thing. Maybe not morbid curiosity. Something more like... hunger.
The Leper doesn’t seem afraid, although he can sense the hunger in her very being. He reaches out a hand to guide her over to a seat next to his “Here.”
She grabs with her wrapped hand and sits down. "Thank you"
She feels that his hand is bandaged yet strong “It is the least I could possibly do.”
"I can find my way around, but your help is appreciated" she drops his hand, wiping it off on her shirt
“All need help in some way, I am happy I could help you. What brings you around here ma’am?”
"I prefer not to stay in one place for too long."

"Well, it's complicated. My Kingdom of creatures have a sort of Pyramid Scheme of power. Every Monster has a concept, called their Majesty, which they control. They can create smaller, weaker monsters that have part of that concept. For example, a Temperature Monster could make Heat and Cold monsters, and that Heat Monster could make Fire and Radiation monsters. I can change Monsters by boosting how high they are in the Pyramid, or give them a second Majesty. I technically have all Majesties, but I can't access them directly.
