"They told me they had some awful plans for you. I don't think anyone deserves what they're planning. I have some tricks that I think would help. Like, for example, giving one of them empathy and compassion. I mean giving them the ability to experience it, not just caring about them. I think that would be something pretty nasty for them."
He raises an eyebrow in interest, finishing his soda "Hmm, you really think that'll work? I mean, I've always been up fer plans, no matter how they were, but they're both trouble. Stoppin' one is a start, but they always seem to have something under their sleeves. I've even managed to kill one, but it didn't stick. What do they have planned, what'd they tell ya?"
"I think me telling you is part of their plan. I hope you don't mind if I avoid telling you. If any of it becomes important for you, I'll let you know immediately. I might tell Stroth, though. She seems like she'll be able to help stop them. But all in all, I won't be able to stop them with my own brute force. That much I know."
He nods, rubbing his chin "Interestin'. They were always the most clever of the group. If you're going to tell Stroth, please be careful about it. I don't want her gettin' herself hurt for me."

"Just eat what you can, please. I don't want you to get sick." As she eats, she gains 40 temporary hit points and can, as a reaction to being attacked, increase her AC by 2d4 until the start of her next turn, but she sacrifices temporary HP equal to the number rolled.
They tap their chin. "That could be your ticket out of this. That could work!"
"This is... this is divine! How did you procure such incredible ingredients?" She skewers a bit of fried kraken with the hooked end of her claw, pausing to eat it. She seems visibly overjoyed- this is probably the best food she's ever had in her entire existence.
"Ooh, another thing! They just handed the blueprint to me afterwards, when I had agreed to nothing! They just gave it to me with no price!" She stands to her feet, the crackle of static briefly turning to the musical jingle of some broadcasted game show before she stops the signal.
He smiles. "I'm a Gourmet Hunter of sorts. It's my passion to go out and collect this stuff. The bigger and tastier the monster, the more I want to hunt it. A lot of people with my job just sell the ingredients, and some of them poach monsters for the sake of eating or earning as much as possible. I like to take a more sustainable and healthy approach, though." He offers her some vinegar to put on the kraken.
"Yeah! Unless they work by Fey rules or something, that should work perfectly!"
She accepts the vinegar, her light 'eyes' holding a happiness that her lack of facial features can't convey. "Well, I can confidently say that this is the best food I've had in ages... possibly ever. I cannot thank you enough. Oh, I know just how to repay you!" She gets up for a second, retrieving some platinum silverware from an unseen nook behind a shelf and offering it to him.
"Yeah, but that'd be horrifically unfortunate if it was- and highly improbable that it is! I'm going to get my things back!" She starts to head off towards the manor in her attempt to out-rules-lawyer Podmorski. *Yeah, it'd be a damn shame if they happened to use fey rules... ;)*

"Oh, alright." She puts the possibly-cursed silverware back in its hiding spot. "Say, what first motivated you to pursue being a cook?"
She marches right past them, walking right down the same stairs she did before without a moment's hesitation and following the same path that led her to the scheming Nightmare Lord on her first visit.

"Well, at first it wasn't a choice. My family wanted me to be a cook, and I had a natural aptitude for it anyway. But as it turns out, my approach to cooking wasn't what they wanted =, or even expected. I had a tendency to cook... everything. The reason I left was... well, so we have this problem with giant spiders. They are the natural predators of my people, but when I found a young one dying in the snow, I just... had to save it. I raised it as my own, and they saw me as a sympathizer with our one enemy, keeping a dangerous pet because I thought it was 'cool,' no matter how many times I corrected them. And once I cooked the spider, everyone thought I was a madman. They may not have approved of it, but they had assumed that I had it as a pet. It was just livestock, even if I did care for it. So I left, and swore to return and show them all the merit of my work once I had the skills to impress them all."
He doesn't even look up at her. He taps the ashes off his cigarette. "You again. Changed your mind?"

"Yep! And I realized something that it looks like you missed- I never agreed to giving what you took!
