Broken glass slashes Felix's face, even embedding under his left eye, but he doesn't move. His expression hasn't changed this entire conversation. "You think because I don't choose you, I am a selfish monster? That because I don't want to be mended by you, to your image of what a good person is, I am unwilling to receive help? I've consumed your life for months, and it never even occurred to you that you're barely a footnote in my story. Get out of here. You are no longer welcome in this tavern." He slowly pulls a piece of glass out of his face, not breaking eye contact.
He narrows his eyes, grabbing his bag off of the ground. He chuckles softly, though nothing about this is funny. "A sight it has been to see the soldier God abandoned. Thank you for opening my eyes to the extent darkness can embed itself into one's flesh, if nothing else. Forgive me for caring about someone else, I had no idea that was selfish." he says slightly mocking. "But, you've no power to decide where I may or may not roam. Good day." he says before walking out calmly, bag in tow.
Felix gets down and begins cleaning up the broken glass.
"...maybe. I guess our people aren't that different. So why the war then?"
"Do they?"
"Because, even if evil, chaos will find a way to render any sort of empire apart." He sighs, rubbing his eyes "I like to pretend I am this calm, neutral, level headed general but, back in the field, I employed tactics of pure chaos to take them down... I didn't like it because it felt too... Out of the box where I have always been one to work inside of it."
"Indeed. Each and everyone one of them is my children." He grins under his mask "Now speak again of if they are?"
"Why have a box? Too many corners, too many walls, it's all just a trap. And a wild beast hates to be trapped. That's how I feel though, at least..."
"Misguided. Incorrect. Domination is the greatest sin. All that can be dominated is the self. Through there shall the epiphany be reached."
"Because their are laws on the box, things to stop chaos from growing so powerful that it ruins everything..." He sighs and rubs his face "Laws are put in place for a reason. If you kill someone, you go to jail. You rob someone you go to jail." He explains "But if you pay a judge ten million dollars to look the other way, you are a free man. If a politician paya off a prostitute to keep her mouth shut, he is still seen as good despite his flaws...." He says and sighs "Sorry, I am rambling.."
"Ah ye of little faith, I hate to tell you this but their minds aren't dominated. I have done nothing to alter their way of thinking."
"No, no, this is a very interesting view. I honestly never thought of things this way."
"And what convinces them?"
He sighs and stands up, stretching. "What I am saying is, if I am saying anything, the reason the war started was because chaos and law do not mix. It will always turn out bad, no matter what lense it is looked through." He leans down, lifting Riotan's chin to meet his burning orange eyes.
He steps back and lets them speak for themselves. Many voices rise as one, talking of how he has stood by them through thick and thin, how he has saved their elders, their children, their spouse's, and how he has brought them money and food and food health.
This slightly confuses but greatly excites him, and he doesn't say a word.
"I cannot argue with that, then. Perhaps I was wrong, but perhaps again not..." Their voice drifts slightly, and they look around disconnectedly.
Samaritan stares at him for a moment "You want to know something?" He says, exhaling smoke.
They all stare at them, masked faces blank.
"Yes."
They stare back, their glowing face equally blank, yet clearly hiding unimaginable processes beneath.
He leans in a bit more, letting Riotan feel the fiery heat that comes off his form "If you ever pull something like that again, where you lie and tangle honeyed words together for your own benefit... I will hunt you down, flay you alive, and turn you into a meal for only me to devour. Do you understand me?"
The Brand chuckles "We are here because someone who stays at that Inn has wronged us. Her name is Stroth but she was an originally a he. A Demon Lord back in the day."
"Yes sir." The emotion that this statement has evoked in Riotan is probably not the one Samaritan was hoping to evoke.
"And you plan a revenge of sorts?"

No news is good news…
I'll lay a white rose on the cold earth, knowing it that it has not claimed your soul.
William has somehow slipped into the kitchen in the tavern. He appears to be making cranberry walnut muffins, looking tired beyond belief. He hasn't slept in two days and it is slightly catching up with him.
"I grow tired of repeating myself, dear." Says the cutting tone of Saphuno's voice from behind him.
He hisses and turns around "Hey.. hi.. sorry."
"Back from the grave and still causing issues. If I didn't know better, I'd say you liked me." She sighs, sitting down on a chair. "Do you know what's been happening here lately?"
He shrugs "I don't like women." He replies and chuckles "Men are more my type."
"Well, let me catch you up, slick. In the main portion of the tavern, there's been fighting between your ex-apprentice and some poor old b*stard who's family is dead or somethin'. And get this! Your name has come up. Several times. And to make matters worse, the golem I bought is misbehaving, and Reese's annoying sisters showed up. And you're here, stealing from me and using my kitchen and ingredients." She sighs, pulling her hair.
He turns his head and laughs "You think you are the only one having issues. Cute." He rolls his shoulders "I am waiting for my restaurant to be rebuilt at the moment and I needed.. something to take my mind off of.." he becomes quiet at that moment before shaking his head "Nevermind."
"No, no, Mr 'My Life's Worse'. Tell me your troubles, I told you mine." She sighs.
"I haven't really felt.. attraction towards anyone in my life. My emotions as a person have always been turned off because of who I was. Never developed like they were supposed to. The last relationship I had was twenty years ago to a woman whom I had dated in college. I mostly dated her because she asked me in front of others and it would single me out as different by the others if I didn't. We broke up because she said I was too cold, too unfeeling which was true in some way..." He sighs, tapping his fingers one at a time against the wood of the table "recently, I have been grappling with the fact I may, possibly, have had feelings for Felix. He is someone I care about in a way I do not for others. Maybe it is just because I have not felt like that in a long time and my first thought is 'is this love?' when it could be not."
"He doesn't seem to me like the type to warm up to anybody in such a way." She nods to the tavern, the sound of yelling fading out. "Even if that's the case, for you anyway, I might not tell him such a thing, anytime soon. Maybe not ever, considering the fact that he killed you. I really don't care either way, as long as he's happy and does his job without incident. He's a good kid, and I dunno what I'd do without him." She sighs. "Breaks my heart to know what he's going through. And that's why you can't show up here and cook without asking me." She points a finger at him aggressively. "I'm not gonna be the bad guy here, and if that means making sure I don't play devils advocate and make sure you cant be here, then I'm going to."
"Honestly, I am okay if he does not and I do not ever plan on telling him. Things... Broke between us when I decided to behave foolishly but remember this and only this." He turns "He is flawed, just like all of us, and when you only see him in a good light you ignore everything he has hurt and burnt like a hypocrite. Blind as any bat who is shined in the eyes with a flashlight. If you cannot accept that fact, then you are honest to God an idiot and no better than I." He smirks "Also, the kitchen is public access. It is not a privately owned business as people come in and out all day."
"I don't care what kind of person he is, he does his job and accepts the less-than-deserved pay he gets. As long as he doesn't hurt anybody close to me, I'm fine with him." She rolls her eyes. "You and your logic. Okay, but just warn me so I don't embarass myself if I duck in here to cry. Deal?"
He shrugs "Because of that analogy, no heads up for you ever." He chuckles.
"...maybe. I guess our people aren't that different. So why the war then?"
"Do they?"
"Because, even if evil, chaos will find a way to render any sort of empire apart."
