A skinny halfling girl bursts through the door to the tavern. Her face is red and she seems to be out of breath. She looks over her shoulder a few times before collapsing into a seat. She's wearing an extravagant pink gown and her brown hair is braided neatly. She looks to be in her teenage years. Seeing the scarecrow in the chair across, (I assume) the girl instinctively recoils before seeing the blood-caked scythe, and she leans forward. Her eyes sparkle and she asks in a high-pitched voice, "Are you... an adventurer?"
*I want to introduce a new character, so let's bring it back to the point that she flopped down in the chair. Don't worry, this one is just as edgy.*
The lights in the tavern flicker. It's a directional flicker as if the lights were windows and the tavern was going through a tunnel. When the lights come back on, there is a small, tin soldier in the middle of the room. A tiny toy mouse falls down the stairs. There seems to be a trail of small toys.
The girl jumps out of her seat and curiously picks up the soldier, inspects it for a while, then moves on to the mouse, stashing them in her dress as she moves from one to the next.
The trail leads to a door upstairs, which opens to a dimly lit room.

As she picks up the final toy, a drop of something falls onto the floor. Gravy.
She looks up, and before her, in the room dimly lit by the candles on the walls, is a massive table piled high with delicious-looking food. At the far end of the table, shrouded in darkness, is a strange, oversized figure. It lowers a claw down to the floor and places a small toy eladrin. It winds the toy, causing it to walk towards her.
"Don'T bE AfrAiD, litTtle oNe." The figures voice sounds like many voices at once, both male and female.

What's your name?" Rose becomes more confident with every word. If there's a seat across the table from the figure, Rose will sit down.

"Emerald. What a lovely name. Thank you." A pair of orange glowing eyes appear on the eclipsed figure at the other end of the table.
"But you're still scared of me, aren't you all?" There's a hint of sadness in its voices. "Don't worry, I wouldn't hurt..." Suddenly, a metallic SNAP as one of the creature's arms lunges out to grab something unseen in the air. Then it reaches forward to hold the thing over a candle. In between two scissor blades, unharmed but held in place, is a house fly. "A fly."
"Both me and my food are perfectly safe. Don't worry your precious little heads."
