Anansi is the Spider of West-African religions. He is a trickster who stole all the stories in the world through his clever schemes and then spread them amongst the people.
Guanyin is a taoist immortal who serves as a sort of goddess of Mercy. She is also the one that picks those chosen to go on the Journey to the West.
Ame-no-Uzume is the shinto goddess of the dawn. She lured the sun Ameterasu out of her cave by giving her a strip-tease.
The Rainbow Crow is a legend of the Lenape of a beautiful rainbow colored crow that brought fire down from the heavens, coloring his feathers black and sacrificing his beautiful voice.
Kali is the hindu Goddess of slaughter and war, who wears a necklace of severed heads and a skirt of amputated arms. She killed a demon whose blood made more demons by drinking all his blood, which turned her blue.
OH! I actually remember hearing about Ame-no-Uzume and Guanyin, I just forgot there names! Also, Kali sounds like a badass.
Kali is totally badass. The Thuggee cult were her worshipers irl. Also I like the Lares, the household gods from Roman mythology. They actually predated the pantheon of Jupiter.
The Thuggee cult is where we get our word thug from.
Anansi is really cool, but is he really a god? He seems more like a character from mythology, like Sigurd, Coyote, or King Arthur. They all did crazy things, but he wasn’t a god was he? He was more of a magical talking spider. I do remember a cool story (Hellboy) where an African mage had Anansi spin his web in his ear and whisper stories to him, giving him the gift of divination. Anansi has a lot of fun myths.
Which is why I added the disclaimer of god-like beings. Could be argued he's like a minor god, could be said he's a divine hero, could be a spirit, demon or any other classification. The term god is very fluid. Most cultures didn't even see all gods as the same. Take the norse faith. Are the Aesir gods? are the Vanir? If they're gods, why are the Ice Giants not? Or are the Ice Giants gods too?

I see, I didn’t notice the disclaimer. I would say that he is a hero or maybe a spirit, but doesn’t seem to be a god in my opinion. I think that a god in mythology is something that was worshipped by people, and I don’t think Anansi was worshipped. But he can easily be used as a trickster god, or maybe some sort of knowledge god because of his stories, in a story or game. In my DND world Arachne is a god even though she isn’t a god in Greek mythology. I wanted a good spider god for the drow and so I chose her, but having Anansi be added to the drow pantheon would be cool too.
So, as a note, Frost Giants are gods in Nordic structures. Well, as much as any of the Aesir or Vanir are. So if one is, they all are.
land I think people seriously underestimate Frey and Freya these days, dismissing them as a kind of wonder twins or some such.

Hi! I think the Vanir are mostly fertility gods. And Njord, who is like the patriarch of the Vanir, is a sea god.
but what makes them different from the Aesir?
I’m not sure. I do know they come from a different less warlike culture than the Aesir.
hmmmmmmmmmmm.......
When the progenitors Vili, Ve and Odin finished killing Ymir and making the world, Odin was unsatisfied, while Vili and Ve were satisfied.Ve became the first Frost Giant, leaving Vili to lead those satisfied with the world and start wandering as the Vanir. Odin unsatisfied build Asgard and became the progenitor of the Aesir.

Or something like that.
Nice! I did not know all that. That makes a lot of sense.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).

I like Frey and Freya. They’re really interesting gods who come from a different divine tradition than the rest of the Aesir.
I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).
I like Freya and Freyr too, but for some reason Njord has always been my favourite Vanir
