I always use milestone leveling when I play with my friends, which just means the DM tells you when to level up when you reach a certain point in the story. You can also do it by experience points, but tbh I really don’t know how to that very well. I think for a thread like this you should talk to Yondor, tell him you want to raise Flint to level 3 so you can take Way of Mercy, and let him decide when’s the best time for Flint to level up.*
