“What if I tried to convince them that gnomes and other creatures are not evil? Like, what if I went and told them that their beliefs were wrong?”

'That would be a very good and noble thing to do, Meepo. Depending on what they think of ya, it may or may not get ya killed though'

“Well, they haven’t seen me in a few years, so maybe they’ll think I was crazy.”

'That's a possibility. Did ya get on well with them the last time ya saw them?'

“Yeah, they knew I was a curious little messer since I was a wee little lad, so they always expected me to journey out into the world.”

'If they still care about ya, maybe they'll listen? D'ya think they'd be proud of what ya achieved in ya life?'

“Maybe, there pretty old fashioned lads, maybe they’ll think that I’ve lost my marbles.”

'Fair enough. I mean, ya a great inventor, would they respect that?'

“Maybe? If it ain’t helpin the tribe then they won’t.”

'Ok. If ya were seriously considering this, would ya want me to come with ya? I'd wanna support ya, but I doubt being seen with a sewer-dwelling half-elf is gonna help ya case'

“Ehh, it would get lonely… what if I bought them back here afterwards? Are there any caves nearby?”

'Yeah, I think there are a couple caves in the nearby woods. Nice place really, though not as nice as here'

“We kobolds are great at building tunnels, maybe we can connect the caves with the sewers?”

'That would be cool! You'd need to make sure it didn't result in sewage leaking out through the caves though, but maybe, yeah!'

“Yeah!”

Rotterharn walks out of the forest in front of the thugs hideout. “Looks like we made it, it’ll be harder to get in.”

'At least we're here now. Any ideas of how we break in? This place connected to the drains or something?'

In an overly hushed whisper he replies “It’s not connected to the drains but I can see the forest behind it. Maybe we can climb up a tree and onto the wall. The wall connects to the barracks where we can source weapons and an outfit to look the part. Just remember to lie low.” After saying this he sneaks toward the back end of the fort hiding under cover of the trees.
